yo CCP, your background textures look like crap in 4k.

They look wonderful in standard HD, but at 4k they look super compressed and flat. It stands in stark contrast to the ships which look wonderful (outside that dirt texture which still looks a bit blocky).

Now that more and more of us are getting 4k resolutions, what's the chance/probability of that HD texture pack you were talking about a while back?

Also, take a look at those moon/planet textures, yee-ikes.

That said, the monitor and video card was about 700ish total, not bad considering a year ago they were over 1000 just for the monitor alone.

They published a blog on this a few months ago already, discussing this problem and some tech solutions they are working on applying. As in the background textures. Might have been a FF talk not a blog but pretty sure it was a blog.

I remember CCP Darwin writing about how they come up with a different compression algorithm to hide the blockiness.
Back then there were ... complaints ... about the horrible looks of the background.

Now that this is fixed i really wonder what your issue is and also ...
... why you didn't manage to post helpfull screenshots that highlight the issue.
