Changes to high ganking

Fun fact: It used to be MUCH, MUCH easier to gank in the "old days" (see: the days when subscription rates were rising).

I remember ganking Industrials solo in battleships (industrial HP levels were lower back then)...
then warping to another belt (see: "boomerang maneuver")...
then ganking a miner...
and THEN blowing up due to CONCORD.

And I usually came away with less than a few thousand ISK in losses due to insurance (yes, insurance used to cover ships used for suicide ganking).


It is far more difficult to pull off anything close by yourself these days.

Great topic to bring up OP! I completely agree with your main idea, but I do believe I could help with a solution. I'd say give bonuses that are specific to defensive ganking. Something like, once the freighter is attacked, the freighter receives defensive, drone, and jamming bonuses. Of course all freighters will then need mid slots, drone bandwidth, and a drone bay. What do you guys think? Cheers! o/

I know right? Why should you believe a fact based study with a sample size of 80'000 players when your personal gut feelings say something different? And oh well, did I say new players, I did not mean new, I mean newish players and it's obvious that observed behaviour will just completely flip over after the trial period.

Because it's so obvious that people join this game for mindless grinding ISK in total isolation. And we should totally guard them from any excitement that will happen because they don't play a spaceship MMO for excitement, they just want to do their own thing.
