My idea to make the orca a bit better
boost the ship bay to 600.000 m3 from 400.000 m3 but only let it hold mining ships like its big brother the rorqual
boost the ore hold from 50.000 m3 to 100.000 or 150.000 m3
and give it 1 more low slot and 1 or 2 more high slot s

good or bad idea ?

Saying because it would be nice, does not count.

I used to run a personal ice mining fleet with 7 accounts and never had any need for those changes.

The amount of high slots is totally enough to run the 2 mining links that matter and you can even add a link for some extra shield resistances as the link that reduces cap usage of miners is not needed anyway. If you would like tractor beams on your orca, just drop a MTU.

The ore hold is big enough as well. In my mining fleets I kept a Miasmos in the ship bay to quickly unload the orca as needed with one of my other chars. (Swapping that one char from his exhumer to the miasmos).

Why would it need more low slots? Anything you fit into them is more tank and you can get it to 450k+ EHP when it´s properly fitted, which is more than enough.

This wouldn't make tbe orca better whatsoever.
All it would do is allow it to wait a bit longer until it is full.

Personally I think that making the ship maint bay bigger is be nice but not critical.
Increasing the ore bay would also be nice, though 60K is probably large enough.
Stripping the orca's current tractor bonuses and bonusing the orca so it can use Capital Tractors would be nice and probably in character. It would also create new opportunities for capital tractor builders.
A utility high is something I would really really like. I use 3 links as a matter of course.
An extra mid would be extremely welcome. It would allow me to do tank things I currently cannot or will not do, mostly involving a large shield booster.
More cap is probably the second highest item on my wishlist, mostly to allow a bigger active tank.
To me the most desireable addition to an Orca's (and Rorq's) abilities would be the ability to compress ore in space without requiring siege or fuel. It isn't like ore compression isn't rare these days, with every citadel being able to do it. but there should be a bonus to using an orca/rorqual and onboard compression could be it..

You already have 3 utility highs you still have one if you link for optimal mining

And compression is not good as I would like to see this taxable in structures to open up new opportunities

There are some clever miners who use the bay to switch to combat ships if someone starts to shoot them. Why do you want that possibility removed?

I'd be happy with just a bigger ore hold, to be honest.
The rorq is twice the size of the orca, yet the orca only has a fifth of the ore hold, i'd like the ore hold to be half the size of the rorqs, so 125k m3, rather than the 50k m3 it is now.
I also wouldn't mind to much about an extra mid or high.

Tried that back in the ice interdiction days. They still mined in untanked barges while whining about how easy it was to kill them.

now i miss the days of infi ice belts :/ the comunity that was built around some of them (miners, thiefs and gankers all) was a lot of fun

bad idea. when you show up to mine, you show up in a normal ship. your barge is in the orca. you jump into your barge and have to leave your combat ship floating in space since it cant go in the orca/rorqual.

its getting a revamp in nov.
they both need capital strip miners, not just capital mining drones.
