You want them thinking you're going to be an easy kill, which is why ships like the Ishkur and Incursus are so good for MTU flipping shenanigans.

This is very important. And it's ironic, because battleships actually have a much easier time defending themselves against cruisers than frigates but they're also way less likely to engage you. (T3Ds are also "scary").

lots of great info and advice, great reading it all. It looks like the 2 ship option may well be the best way to go forward buzzard and incursus, till i get the hang of this.

many thanks

Loved Ralph's story.

To add a slight bit too it, about a month or so ago I was sworn off of sig/speed tanking. Folks even said NPC's aren't capable of being affected by it.

Well, as is shown in other threads, I'm a stubborn idiot. I keep trying anyway. I have found that my ENI cruiser can out RAT my Brutix against NPC's in Null. I can speed tank everything but their frigates and destroyers. Those I just blap or drone off. Orbiting a Battleship at 1,000 meters hitting him hard with everything I have and watching him miss with everything he has (my armor happily regenerating to max and then my shields coming up under the fire of those massive weapons, feels kinda neat).

So, don't be so quick to run from a larger foe or to try speed tanking. It works PvP and PvE though slightly different. I'd only run if the odds were really against me, which is fairly common because, like I said, I'm a stubborn idiot.

To be fair I don't believe we said sig/speed tanking didn't work...it is *range* tanking that they cheat on....

And all forms of e-war...

But I could be wrong...it has been a while.

Gnosis.

That is what I use to hunt MTUs. Works very well, I might add. And yes, it can fit an expanded probe launcher for the pewpew probez.

Don't run from a good trap! traps are great fun.

Some of my most memorable fight's were traps.

Eh, scanned down a dominix a few years back and warped in already suspect,
he was gone when I landed but there was a big typhoon and a Proteus smiling at me instead.
The typhoon was practically on the beacon but the port was about 80k off (****ed if I know why)
Anyway the typhoon comes straight at me and lands a point before I can nope out of there
so I set about him reasoning that I would be happy if I gave a good account of myself in my frigate before the port came and smeared me across the system.

It didn't go down like that, I got the typhoon deep into hull by the time the port git his slow ass over and got a lock on me so I overheat my guns and *BANG*

THE TYPHOON EXPLODES! **** ! OVERHEAT ALL THE THE THINGS! WATCH THE TRANSVERSAL , GET THE ARMOR BACK UP FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUCK THIS OS GONNA BE CLOSE!

So now I'm dancing with a buffer, brawling fit Proteus , webbed to hell and back ,bearly mitigating enough damage to rep back out of hull.I had to keep manually adjusting my orbit to keep him From volleying through me ,
every now and again he would land a good hit , my armor would disappear and I'd dip further into hull and have to claw it back to survive the next one, while trying desperately to manage my cap to keep guns, rep,ab and piddly little meta neut going, if any of them fail I explode
This dance goes on for what seems like forever

Then just as I burnt my repper out his guns stop ... I'm not sure why until he comvos me asking for a ransom,
then I realized that my piddly little meta neut had caped him out and he was helpless.

Sitting there with this White Knight helpless was one of the most satisfying moments I have had here yet.

Just to re-iterate a point the experts have already no doubt made.

Don't fly t3

You will kill plenty of MTU's sure, but not a single PVE'r is going to bother engaging you. And nothing is more disappointing than a killboard full of nothing but MTU's. May as well be ratting.

That's not a problem if your main purpose doing this is simply to destroy as many of those damned things as possible, and any bear violence is a nice added bonus :)

Only issue is in other areas they wise up fast. But for some reason people who mission in Umokka just don't pay attention or they just don't care. There are a few on there where I killed multiple MTUs on the same pilot. With them in system too...

No carebear has shot at me yet though...and no threats. No one has threatened me or even said one word in local when I am pretty much suspect from when I log on to when I log off.

Yes, the locals suddenly wising up and paying attention is annoying...but there're always enough patsies to make hanging around the same area worthwhile :)

I'd say that about 80% of Osmon's population are wise to my tricks and MO - on the other hand, 80% is not 100% lol :)

Another MTU bites the dust

I will usually go hang out at the scene of the crime, or be at station waiting at 0 for responses.
So far, just trash talk in local with nobody wanting to try anything.

The way I see it is, if they engage me then I will happily scrap with them. If they don't, they get to watch their MTU die right in front of them with my 700 dps on it.

P

watching in full knowledge that your 700 DPS will scrap them.

You're offering them a clear cut, obvious and very blunt choice. Do nothing and lose the MTU (do any of them actually scoop it?) V Shoot the Big Scary Battlecruiser(tm) and get scrapped.

Ishkurs and suchlike are a lot more subtle. The choice suddenly becomes a bit more of a dilemma: Do nothing, lose MTU V Shoot the nondescript frigate, get a nice killmail and save the MTU.

Meanwhile, of course, yon Ishkur/Daredevil/Dramiel/Incursus is fit perfectly to hold them down and slowly chip away at them without fear of taking much damage in return.

Bluntness has netted you a killboard lush green with defenseless MTU carcasses, and not a whole lot else. Maybe try the subtle approach, mayhaps you'll enjoy it?
