Getting killed by CONCORD for destroying wrecks that are mine?

I kill stuff, they are my own kill, I'm solo in the area with my hunting partner...
We're at the part of catching the loot and I want to destroy wrecks that had nothing in them. Sends the drones on them, fine. no problem but as soon as I shot a single missile at my OWN wrecks, BAMM, Concord shows up and blow my shiny battleship...

I'm left puzzled at What just happened...

Any light?
Dev/GM input would be amazing since that makes -1 sense.

Thanks

Did either of you leave fleet? Where were you ratting? Shooting even abandoned wrecks that belong to someone other than you will get you popped.

I was in the fleet, as per usual. I was in High sec but still, they were my wrecks (a serpentis research center with only us in there).

and my hunting partner did shoot some and she didn't got popped.

Well, could have several reasons ...

... did you accidentally shoot a can or structure?
... was the wreck really yours? White color is not a sufficient indicator.

Also as mentioned before, PvE in highsec with safety disabled is not the smartest move.

I'm my own NPC alt.

Concord arrives some time after you cause them to, it is not instant - ie even your theory that the wrecks you attacked with your drones didn't get you concorded could easily be incorrect.

You deserved it for shooting wrecks rather than salvaging them.

If you don't want them why not turn them blue for someone else?

You probably destroyed a wreck that belonged to your friend.

That could make sense. The most probable answer I got so far :) Thanks

I tend to agree with that.

Also if you think something isn't right in-game, submit a Support Ticket and let the Dev's figure it out.

So, years ago I'm helping my newbro friend learn the ropes, since there is no real tutorial to speak of. He has got an atron, and Im flying a domi, using a remote rep, just keeping an eye on him. I remind him to loot his wrecks, and proceed to use my target painter on one of them, figuring it is just a harmless laser pointer on a wanted rat ship that has already blown up.

Apparently, concord doesn't feel the same way.

Newbro friend asked me what the hell just happened, and if he should fight the NPCs that just showed up to kill me.

"No! No no no no no!"

"....yeah, too late."

I dont mess with wrecks other than my own outside of null and w-space.

Man CONCORD is zealous as hell.

Quoted cos it's a funny story. Also, true dat.

I was surprised by it when my main lost a paladin for shooting at a wreck. The main had blown all the rats up, so the wrecks were white, but because it was in my alts mission pocket, they belonged to him. Even if the alt abandons all the wrecks, I think they still can't be shot (not certain on that one).

Thankfully ccp refunded the paladin, pointing out the error of my ways. Much better than just saying "stoopid noob", so kudos to the gm on that one.

Yeah I lost a 200m Vexor Navy Issue to a wreck after I popped one of my first MTUs. Didn't realize that when you blow up the MTU, the wreck is yellow. Having lived in wormholes, where it is required to blow them up if you cannot salvage (gives info to someone else that the hole is active), I forgot that.

Worst loss of my Eve career to a brain fart. Shocked

Still bitter about that loss...

You got poped because you shot your friend's wreck. Try writing a petition and you might get your ship back (I got my Tengu back, when I shot at my alt's wreck).

This is correct.

To sum this up properly:

Ownership is always individual.
The colours white, yellow and blue do not indicate ownership, they indicate access rights.
