Hi there. After a little bit of research and observing other players in combat sites, i noticed drone boats where very popular for 1-4 Deds. Ideally i would have liked to been able to fly a stratios, but you know.... needs a lot of ISK.

Sooooo, found out the Worm is decent and came up with this fitting:



This fit is approx 75m, could i have some constructive critique please?

your fit looks fine for up to 4/10 DEDs, I assume you are guristas/serpentis space?

Tsukino knows very well why I said that. It was genuine good advice. Dat fit has zero buffer and a DED 2 /10 will be the end of that Worm.

Why is it that I still have write an essay for each and every ship? I wrote a whole guide to read for everyone. You were asking what we think, that is what I am thinking.

Knowing my DED complexes, even Guristas do a little thermal damage and - shocking - EM damage. One web and your Worm goes poof, plain and simple.

The base premise of that fit is okay-ish but there still is a shield extender missing. Your tank is the afterburner not a small shield booster.

vexor navy or gila if you can afford it. Normal vexor will work also.
Vexor navy can launch 5 sentries which is great so you can easily recall then when they get shot at.

I modified your fit. This fit is more expensive about 3 times more expensive at 235 mil. But if your going to fly a 70 mil faction frigate, you might as well give it the love it deserves. Especially in a relatively safe environment. What you lose is about 5km to targeting range but you gain a bit more speed, 25% more EHP against guristas( 1700 EHP roughly), twice the sustained tank and its cap stable so you can run everything all the time( which i love because i always forget to turn boosters off) better scan strength( which is quite helpful on an unbonused ship) and the same dps.

I can and have run a 2/10 guristas in a kestrel on a 1 mil sp alt and recently. If guristas did do Em which is unlikely except for maybe a special case, its not even worth mentioning. The only high sec case i know of with a web is the 2/10 merchant depot in the second room their are 3 web towers and 3 sentry towers and the commander. It shouldnt be hard to tank that room for a couple of minutes while you take out the commander and sentries. Even if you could only tank it long enough to kill one thing. You still have the option to warp out. So i would hardly consider that the death of his worm unless he is completely clueless.

Webs are only the death of you if you are also scrammed. And removing scrams should be first priority. As far as i can remember, and ive ran many high sec guristas recently, no ships scram you. I may of missed one or i may be a special snowflake, but im pretty sure being scrammed was never a concern. It was all the jams that were the problem.

I never doubted your abilities and the Worm is by far the best ship for the task bar none. And since jams will be a problem, my advise was to increase the buffer, so the shield regen goes up.
Overtanking kinetic resistance will look good on the fitting screen but the native resistance will be enough as long as he keeps moving.

The goal is to mitigate as much damage as possible by moving, in case of the Worm doing a DED 4/10 would be to select a "bunker" or a gate an orbit at as much range (orbit current) as possible.
Since he will get jammed a lot, he should be orbiting at 30km and bring a lot of scourge fof light missiles and wait until he can proceed.
In the long run, he may want to get a Gila until he runs into a "Maze" which will vaporize a Gila or Rattlesnake with an overtanked kinetic resist tank with a mjolnir citadel torpedo.

I am not entirely sure it was a DED or that COSMOS Guristas thing in The Forge, where the Guristas had mjolnir heavy missiles (used to be Thunderbolt missiles). The 5/10 was not so bad but he should have a Gila for that.

Oouuuh. Why didn't you say so? I still think that a medium shield extender would serve him better than another kinetic resist mod.
And the Merlin used to have 2x missile launcher and 2x turret slots but the native resist bonus and the four medium slots didn't change.
Since I trained turrets only 5 years ago, I used to fly her with 2x light missile launchers in my first days as a capsuleer. In my experience it was better to fit a shield extender than more resistance. It is more forgiving to fly if something goes south.

Referring back to my original post. Didnt want to spent loads of ISK.


This fitting is ridiculously expensive.... 330m for a worm fit! :O
