Idea: separate empires by pirate-conquerable systems (switch from 0.5 to 0.4)

Imagine a game mechanic where a few key systems between empires became conquerable by player pirates in some fashion (some sort of a holding mechanic perhaps similar to faction warfare) in such a way that the 4 empires could become completely separated by lowsec systems. Then it would create some interesting trade dynamics, increase importance of local trade hubs and create high volume lowsec traffic which would in turn caus havoc and destruction in general (which is always fun). A lot of specifics would have to be fleshed out (such as for instance if capitals are allowed in this new type of switchable security and what happens to capitals when the system switches from 0.4 to 0.5, if sec status switch happens only over downtime etc.)

Thoughts?

No offense, but I think we should just stop thinking of new ideas. F&I forums are really just a place where forum threads come to die.

- Nothing ever gets done here.

- Nobody ever agrees on anything unless it's unrelated or in regard to the intelligence of the OP.

- Nobody wants any changes that may make them rethink how they do things.

- Nobody wants any changes that alter ganking mechanics or wardecs.

- Nobody wants anything that does not have anything to do with PvP.

- Your idea falls into one or two of these categories unfortunately; but more importantly, it falls into another one: Nobody gives a sweet damn.

I can't even bring myself to care anymore.

That'd be nice, except for the whole gate-camp thing...

Empires were separated by lowsec at one time. It broke the game, and thus had to be removed. /thread

I think aggression should be allowed anywhere, and CONCORD should only respond against you if they are already present at your location. Otherwise it should take at least 5 minutes for them to show up.

On the other hand, whenever you attack a player that is not an outlaw and has not attacked you first, your character's security status should immediately fall to -0.01, you should be flagged as an outlaw, CONCORD should shoot your character on sight, put a 10,000 ISK bounty on your character's head to start, and your character should become fair game for any character other than your alts. If you continue to be violent, your character's security status will continue to fall and their bounty will continue to rise.

The only way to loose your status as an outlaw and your bounty is either to be killed or regain a positive security standing by ratting or killing other outlaws. CONCORD shouldn't even notice when outlaws attack outlaws.

The level of violence against law-abiding characters in a system should determine it's security rating, and the lower the security rating of a system is, the higher the level of CONCORD presence, which only makes sense. CONCORD should only be present in low sec.

One of my ideas for this before my post got eaten by the stupid and broken forum was that you could actually give sovereignty over to an empire faction, say if you wanted to show you're loyalty to the Amarr, you'd get a large standing reward and a bunch of loyalty points. Then you could have it where they put tough navy ships and turrets at the stargates and build up for you without you having to micro-manage anything and people would get awarded for defending the system with loyalty points and standing against players that decide to shoot them.

If something like this happens I think it should be player driven rather than having it done by CCP and yes, I would quite like the idea of low sec as well being conquerable by pirates, it would make things a lot more interesting.

The only reason it seems like these threads get shot down is because about 8 or so trolls at most come along trying to bash the OP until they give up, if they keep doing this I've half a mind to just block them because they don't offer up anything to the conversation or the debate anyway and it's obvious they're only interest is in keeping their advantage within the game as secure as possible.

When was this and why did it break the game? This is not the same thing btw. It would sometimes be hisec and sometimes losec.
