It's a mixed bag. Most people that use Punishers fit them with ACs and a big buffer tank, but you get similar DPS to a Merlin last I checked (80~) and less EHP, possibly by a landslide depending on your skills. Omens are fun, but they don't tank well. Some people compensate for the inability to tank by just ganking them out and setting them up as mid-range kite ships, applying long points and using MWDs to dictate range while raping face with Scorch. It works well, more or less. Except you're made of paper.

There are decent PVP fits out there for sure, but they are underused for a reason.

Edit to add: Punishers also lack a utility mid, so you can't run a prop mod and full tackle (web/scram)

I've had excellent success with punishers using gatling pulse lasers, nos and a stiff armor tank.

Haven't flown them, but I've fought them. They don't seem to perform that well.

Try the Slicer and the Omen Navy Issue, both far more expensive... but worth it in performance.

Also, the Vengy is a beast. So it seems to redeem the Punisher hull a little.

Like all T1 hull's it depends on what you are trying to do and how much skill you have (not SP). As they are T1, it usually means that you need to be a little more selective in what you engage and think about the best way to use the ship to its potential.

However, if you are a few mates are just roaming around for a bit of a giggle then they both will do fine (Rifters and Ruptures are a good alternative) as long as you understand that you will probably lose them, just try and take someone out before you die.

Been pleasantly surprised by my Nomen.

I don't always post on the forums, but when I do, I post with my main.

punisher is good when u provoke some1 to attack, ull hardly ever catch anything that wants to gtfo.
Also it has enough cap for perma neut build, a very nasty surprise.
Its biggest con is no damage bonus so dont hope to win fight by outDPSing opponents, u need to outlast them.
Omen - quite a usual fragile glass cannon, bad for solo, great in gangs.

Bleeder Punisher w/ ACs , fat tank and small neut is quite a tough nut if your opponent closes with you.

Punisher is a bit predictable, Omen is average. Neither is likely to cause anyone to think twice about attacking them. You can view that as an advantage or a disadvantage in terms of :goodfights:

Try a Arbitrator, they are great even with junk drone skills and can field decent laser/buffer setup. Sadly they are far better than the glass tank t1 omen.

Punisher can be quite beefy, you'll be able to kill a lot of people before they would be able to kill you, and a lot of people will disengage before you'll be able to kill them.

bleeder punisher is quite fun, terribly slow however;

[Punisher, Bleeder]
Damage Control II
Small Armor Repairer II
Adaptive Nano Plating II
Gyrostabilizer II

Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I

150mm Light AutoCannon II, EMP S
150mm Light AutoCannon II, EMP S
150mm Light AutoCannon II, EMP S
Small Diminishing Power System Drain I

[empty rig slot]
[empty rig slot]
[empty rig slot]

add or remove (add) tank as skills/isk dictate.

omens suffer from poor fitting space sadly, getting any form of armour tank and dps at the same time is difficult. shield+pulse can be fun though, try this;

[Omen, Shield]
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Tracking Enhancer II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive
Large F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction
Warp Disruptor II

Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M

Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Medium Core Defence Field Extender I

Warrior II x3

very ehp-lite, if you shuffle around with meta-levels you can probably scrounge the CPU to swap a nano for a damage control, but it'll still die as soon as anything looks at it.

The Omen is garbage. The punisher is a passible T1 frigate. Not exactly garbage but on the very bottom of the totem pole. If you like T1 frig PVP I would recomend the punisher. If you like T1 cruiser PVP in no way would I recomend the Omen.

the omen has serious fitting issues, I always tell people flying or even thinking of using the omen to use an arbitrator. besides that, the tracking disruption + neuts in some lvl 2s are so bad, the only thing saving your ass WILL be your drones, and omen only has 15 m3 of drone space

Edit: yes I do agree the omen is garbage, except as a t1 glass cannon that dies instantly when something locks it

Omen can't fit a proper armor tank, you should shield tank it if you want to use it in PvP. It's going to be comparable to a Rupture, same as a shield Harbringer is to the Hurricane. You'll only have 3 drones and no space for a neutralizer, capacitor's gonna be an issue aswell, but you're more agile, faster and deal more damage. If you want an armor tanked cruiser, use an Arbitrator.

Punisher's fine for low security space. It's slow and heavy but it tanks well. You can fit it with lasers or autocannons, depending if you want to deal more damage outside of point blank range or you want better tank and tracking.

Again, whenever not discussing winmatar you should keep in mind that you're better off cross training, but overall it's not THAT bad.
