Kronos Usage Suggestions

So I've been away from EVE Online for some time and just got that typical EVE itch, so since there was a re-sub offer going on... Might as well Big smile

Now I've always been a fan of the Kronos, it looks sleek and the police skin makes it ever-so much better. I love the idea of a ship having the ability to "deploy" to increase its performance.

The thing is, I've been away for a long time - I don't know what's new or what's changed.

What would I be best off doing with a Kronos? Missions? Incursions? Would a Kronos be able to reliably get into incursions and contribute?

I don't care too much about profit, but it's always nice. I really just want to blow things up. Suggestions on how to fit it are also welcome! :)

The thing about the Kronus (and other Marauders) is that they are more geared towards actively-tanking damage than they are dishing damage.

In an Incursion setup, people are going to choose a Vindicator (the "Pirate" Megathron) simply because it can deal a non-insignificant amount of damage more than a Kronos.

In PvE, even with a modicum of ship fitting knowledge, it is pretty hard to "failfit" a Kronos to the point where it won't be able to take on a level 4 mission.

This is because Bastion Mode gives pretty insane buffs to active tanking.
NOTE: for reference, a PvP-fit Kronos with 2 reps can easily tank 10,000 dps.

So what people do is...
- slap on the minimum amount of tank possible (you can literally get away with a single repper and maybe 2 resistance mods),
- fit the rest of the ship toward damage and damage application,
- MicrojumpDrive away from danger,
- pick off the NPCs.

And you can do this with pretty much any Marauder.

Cheers for the info. Seems I probably won't be doing incursions with the Kronos then... Bummer. Always were interested in those. Though, I will be training up Logistics as I've always wanted to try them since I first started playing EVE.

I guess meanwhile I'll just suck it up and do Level 4 missions. :)

Actually, you can get into shield Incursions fleets with Kronos without much difficulty. Marauders aren't the preferred ships, but they're more than acceptable in the role.

The Vindicator is preferred for HQs for obvious reasons: higher raw dps, easier to meet skill requirement, lower price of hull, etc. But most fleets will accept a Kronos too, because it does respectable DPS in its own right (higher than any other HQ DPS boat except for the Vindi).

Kronos is heavily undervalued for missions, it's as if people forget it exists. The funny part is that it's actually really good because its damage types are either "great" or "decent" (unlike the Paladin), its dps is fine and projection is great.

I'm not a fan of doing missions but wanted to dabble a bit with the Kronos so I added some SP and got me this, it works just fine, is easy to use and quite effective.

Just to chip in, a second hardener or dc is pretty redundant. You just need 1 repper, 1 hardener (particularly against angels, not so much against any other rats) and bastion. If your using rails and mjd, you will barely need to turn your repper on.

Since you can no longer use a mobile depot while the weapons timer from bastion is up, I find a blaster kronos a lot less desirable (can no longer refit a web or two as needed).

But yes, primary use is for lvl 4's. And also yes, police skin is yes yes yes.

Face tank and blasters, its about the only way to keep yoyrself awake using a marauder for missions.
Rails puts you at risk of falling asleep and getting asploded , the paladin suffers from this too.

So my advice is go fly into the biggist cluster of rats and start blapping stuff.
