Heavy Escort/Combat Freighters

Nullsec logistics heavily really on the Jump Freighters that allow you to teleport goods between places.
This is only reliable way of doing this as industrial ships are just big targets that never should be put in the range of enemy weapons.

This idea is to change this.
Disclaimer :
Due to nature of this ship - it will have same limitations like capital combat ships, and will not have jump drive, or fatigue reduction on using all types of bridges.    
My current idea is to have new T2 ship, but maybe it is best to redesign Rorqual to work this way.


All freighters can be invented towards Jump Freighters, idea is to create 2 new T2 ships for each race.
Heavy Escort/ Freighter and Heavy Combat Freighter.
Price goal for both types 2.5bil for complete hull.

Heavy Combat Freighter
Ship class maximized towards combat operations, while it have capacity up to 1.5mil m3 when fully expanded, it have possibility to get decent capital tank, and quite good combat capabilities to feed off potential aggressors.
Slot layout depending on race, similar to battleship layout.
Main offensive system : drones
Drone bay 5000 m3, bandwidth 125 m3.
15 % drone damage and 25% drone speed per freighter level
( i know that some people will try to use it for ratting)

Heavy Escort Freighter
Ship class maximized towards high volume hauling operation and local tank capabilities. Up to 3mil m3 when fully expanded.
Heavy local tank , and bonuses, no offensive weapons, but can mount ewar , netus or smartbombs.
Main offensive system : none
Deadspace fitted fax level tank.


You could ask yourself why?
Eve is changing, gates will be introduced, towers will be gone.
No more jump bridges in current form, if we not introduce this kind of ship class we will end up in jump freighters providing most of the local nullsec logistics.
What is better for us freighters in escort fleets, or jump freighters that cannot be counter played ?

At first glance this seems more like an idea to circumvent recent changes essentially returning us to where we were before. As such I say no because whether you like them or not you need to adapt to what is instead of constantly crying for things to take us back to where we were.

By 'freighters in escort fleets', do you mean 'freighters being titan bridged to wherever', 'JF convoys', 'learning to use wormholes' or simply '**** living in nullsec'?

Because all of those are better options than flying a ******* convoy op to defend a ship that is dead the moment you ping for said escort fleets.

Protip: dreadbombs will ruin your convoy's day, and if you're big enough to need to convoy, you're big enough to have spies.

Depending how far you are willing to take this convoy.
No fatigue reduction for bridges - to encourage taking gates.

Fax level tank or capital level tank and some defense - to give fighting chance against small gang.
I don't hope to make convoy to lowsec, but in range of 1 region at least.


By Fax level tank i am thinking at least 20-30 k dps tank.

no, bring friends/alts as escorts. Capital ships aren't supposed to be solo. You also chose to live in null, and it shouldn't be trivial to move goods from trade hubs.

Use escorts, or use a smaller ship than a JF and do trade runs through WHs.

Besides being obviously broken in both hold space and tanking ability, what does this ship serve that actual combat ships escorting an existing freighter doesn't already provide?
