NPC's suddenly changing into drifters

Hey Guys/Gals

I had a strange occurrence happen to me yesterday and thought i'd write a post to see if this is a bug or a new feature/ship killer.

I warped to an abandoned Mining Colony and saw the usual NPC's.. Started out on the frigates then boom 4 of my locked targets turned blue. A bit surprised i was trying to understand what was happening. Is my client playing up etc.

In the confusion i was being neut-ed webbed and scrammed. needless to say my HAC didn't survive and quite frankly i thought they were going to eat my pod to but this didn't occur.

Has anyone else seen this type of thing.

Kind of a lot of high sec deaths. Me thinks you don't really know what's going on in EVE mechanics.

You clearly have absolutely no idea what's going on, and with a kb efficiency of 0.1% I feel confident in saying that nobody has ever been as bad at this game as you apparently are. Congratulations on your astounding accomplishment.

Mines worse.

Still nobody has addressed the subject of this thread. It doesn't say "Hey come and flame me"

IDGAF about killboards. I'm sure that's evident. I have a HISEC standing of 5.0 fly WH space and hisec/lowsec life is more than kb ratio. maybe one day you will see the light

Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format. Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

Normal NPCs do not turn into drifters, Drifters do not turn blue. You got confused and it got you killed.

I wonder if it is to do with this Serpentis Event. I have some tasks that say things like Kill 5 Drifter BS or Killer a Drifter with a frigate (cos that's going to happen). So I wonder if CCP have up'd the Drifters so people can do the Serpentis tasks.

I've been on a couple of missions where the NPC was blue and turned red, but not many, and they didnt turn onto Drifters they just went form blue to red.

Me thinks you don't know how to read killboard stats.

Clearly someone with that kind of number (mine is 0.0 with only a single, crappily fit ship, lost to PvP) does not care about ship to ship PvP and is playing the game in a way that doesn't use Killboards as a measure of 'fun'. It also doesn't mean a darned thing about mechanics.

Apparently you play differently, that's fine, but disparaging someone else's play style and then assuming they don't know what they are doing is more apt to make you look hypocritical and foolish. None of this benefits anyone here on the boards either so please post constructively and with an understanding that people play differently.

I've seen some odd stuff doing this kind of thing and while I've never seen this exact thing happen, I won't discount it not being possible. The engine behind all this just references a database. If something happened in that database to update whatever table of 'foes' you were facing, yeah, they could all magically change into 'whatever'.

I'd probably call what happened to you a glitch and move on. If it happens again, note the time (as precisely as possible), system and if you can bookmark the site. Put in a support ticket and someone at CCP will look at it sometime in the next 6 months. You might even get your ship back. If you have that data now for the incident as it happened, you can probably do that too. Always understand that computers generally only do what they are told to so glitches happen because we humans are far from perfect.

I think instead of numbers it's more of a look at previous kills diagnosis. He seems to be baited A LOT, which could make people think he doesn't understand the mechanics, or even running some sort of bot.

As you stated, you can learn a lot about someone's play style by their killboard. I think most people understand that green doesn't mean noob, but getting baited 3 times in a row...well, that is possibly a "noob", or someone that doesn't understand the mechanics, also called "noob".

Nope. She's spot on.

The totals don't matter. The fact that he has a hundred losses and almost every one indicates a lack of understanding is what matters. Anyone with a shred of experience can see that clear as day from the first few examples.

Not to mention OP literally just asked how rat aggro works. He's been playing for years and hasn't figured out how to pvp OR pve.

Which is basically what happens when you join a tax evasion corp and refuse to engage with the community. OP reaps his own rewards.

Says the noob with a killboard full of ganks, structures and zero deaths. The great and well known PvPrs in EvE all have lost fights many many times its a requirement of learning to PvP and becoming great. Dont throw black kettles in glass houses or something.

So, if you're at a beacon and Drifters are patrolling the system, sometimes they'll end up at the beacon where you're pewpewing. They seem to take any sort of on-grid, anti-NPC weapons fire as aggression against them, I think; or maybe it's that aggressive drones pew them and start the doooooooom.
