Siege / Triage is a relic of the past and we are stuck with it. It stems from an era where Dreads and carriers ruled supreme. Yet today things have changed, supers and titans proliferate, applying serious dps without having to stay stationary.

Proposal:

Follow the path of damage control module. Make Siege / Triage module passive and allow these behemoths to apply dps / reps directly, removing their disability to stay stationary for a given amount of time. These dps / repair machines deserve a little love, becoming again a formidable weapon of choice. The passive module will probably mean a bit less dps, which is a good tradeoff for staying mobile. As for strontium consumption (do NOT disturb the market!!!) you could include a provision for both topes / stront necessary for these behemoths to jump.

It's an 'I don't know what committing to a fight means' thread!

No, grow a pair and commit to a fight.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Siege/Triage are actually a good mechanic for the most part, as they supposedly give an 'option'.
The balance of the modules is the issue since the option is not an option but a requirement.

One problem is the immobility, which can be removed without removing siege & triage now that different Ewar can be given different resistances, so Siege/Triage do not need to give any resistance to webs or points so you can move, but can't be aligned ready to warp as soon as it drops since the points will already be applied. This then gives us what CCP wanted with the larger grids is the ability to manoeuvre on them, rather than just form giant balls around your immobile dread/fax.

The other issue is the magnitude. It's great to get a good bonus from committing to a fight, but 700%+ is too much, if it was more in the region of a 100% bonus, so that Dreads/Fax out of Siege/Triage still have some effect, but not as much as if you commit, then it would be a real option.

Yes ok, fine, maybe a passive module isn't a very good idea, as commitment is necessary for the siege / triage mechanic to be able to justify 700%-840% damage and rep bonuses. Another option, especially for the Dread class could be to allow remote reps to be applied, even while in siege, but with a 50-60% penalty to repair amount received. Capital energy transfer could have even greater penalties to it, so as not to dirsupt energy warfare.

Someone please explain what that means?? What in the heavens is energy warfare? And we get an energy warfare command link?

You know how when a ship is in Triage/Seige Mode it is basically immune to Electronic Warfare (see: damps, ECM, TDs)?

Energy Neutralizers don't follow this paradigm. They apply their full effects and are the preferred way of dealing with the massive active tanks of Triage/Seige capitals.

"Energy Warfare" can also apply to "neuting pressure" on Logi ships (the Basilisk and Guardian in particular).
