i was currently wondering how the gtx 970 handles multiboxing, due to the 512 mb chunk of memory.

im currently rocking 12 boxes with an r9 270x(2gb), looking to expand but the video card seems to bottleneck my rig along with the ram.

so, any feedback would be appreciated.
im mainly interesed in purchasing a gtx 970 or wait a bit and get a 1070

970 handles it exactly as you'd expect... just fine.

Probably worth waiting for the 1070 though if you're wanting a near-highest-end NVIDIA card.

idk tbh. the 1070 will probably go for $500 for a marginal gain. You can get a good used 970 for $200.

My 970 does great. Eve isn't a very GPU intensive game. This is after all spreadsheets in space. I would be more worried about CPU and RAM :)

1070 prices start at $400 USD (provided you can find them in stock, that is), and I wouldn't call 1070 gains over the 970 "marginal". You're looking at 60%+ improvement in most instances. Another thing to consider is that the 1060 is rumored to be releasing in two days.

or, as an alternative, rx480, which goes arround for roughly half the price of a gtx 1070 /80% of a new 970

1070 blows 970 out of the water (going by benchmarks), and all the ones that I've seen for sale are 8gb cards, whereas 970s are all 4gb (I think). If you're buying new, no point getting a 970, even if you're budget constrained.

I run 3 clients with a 950 on max settings and stull get 60fps on each.

970 will be more than sufficient.

Running 8 clients with perfect [60 on medium settings] FPS on a HD5770 here. I think you'll be fine, depending on the number and size of screens you are using.

Not in actual games. Its really weird. It stress tests better but in an actual game it is marginal.

I ran 5 clients on a 2gig gtx760. over 3 screens running 60 fps. A 970 should do nicely on 12 clients
