Are missile pointless?

With the introduction of hybrid turrets that don't suck are all missiles finally obsolete? They have been surpassed in all areas (DPS, Range, Alpha).

No, missiles are popular and successful in PvP. Not on the BS level unfortunately.

No, they aren't useless. IMO HML are still the most powerful BC sized weapon.

They still project damage better than any other weapon system, delayed though it may be. There's also the whole selectable damage type thing, or at least on ships with a global bonus and not just kinetic.

They are still the only weapon with total damage type selection. Also, they are immune to tracking penalties in exchange for a raw target speed penalty, which gives them different functionality.

The delay is the only reason they suffer in pvp, and in most small gang ranges (<30km) that's not an issue.

You can also use the Doppler effect to temporarily and artificially increase your DPS. Works best with bombers.

Ed: Also, just because you don't get a damage bonus to a particular damage type doesn't mean it isn't the best damage option sometimes.

Missile are great especially Heavy Missiles.

Shame their is no effective Cruise Missile Platform for PvP though.

Generally speaking, any time you need a tank or need to project your damage beyond ~30km. Also, Large guns are not Medium guns, if you catch my drift. :)

No, the kind of claims I am making come from actual combat... which is slightly different than nice theoretical situations where everyone orbits in nice pretty perfect circles...

Frankly, all this attacking someone who has to ~come to Amamake~ is a red herring to the point i'm trying to make: in actual combat these ships are ******* pathetic. Maybe if you guys would stop trying to attack my argument on the basis of ~math~ you might see why the ~math~ actually supports it?
