Jump range and/or ORE Jump freighter

I don't know if it was mentioned before, but I can't hold it back anymore.
Not a rage post. It is about nulsec logistics.

Once there were carriers to carry ships, and jump freighters to carry other supplies.
Now carriers are not capable to jump over some regions, because of their short jump range. Jump freighters are not capable to haul too many ships.

The idea in shortened jump ranges was to prevent capital fleets to cross New Eden within minutes to join big fights.
The same reason why Jump Fatigue was invented.
All this time everyone focused on Fatigue, as the worst thing to be happened to capital players. It was though.

Now that new capital moduls, and new faction capitals are in game or announced, to give capital pilots some motivation, I have to say: okay, keep the fatigue, but give some jump range back to capitals. If it's 10AU, then be it, but it's ridiculous for capitals not being able to jump some region borders, because they are further from each other than 5AU...
Besides the fact that Fatigue in itself can prevent super fights to escalate to B-R levels, this makes deploying / resupplying subcapital ships horrible, terrible, time consuming, annoying (strip, repackage, get spare rigs, don't miss anything from the stripped fit, haul, reassemble, refit...)

As a B-plan, it would be nice to have a T2 (jump freighter) version of the Bowhead.

With respect - Peter

you sir do not understand the reason behind these changes and i would wager a guess you do not know what power projection means

read up on that do a search in this forum for ideas similar to yours. you seem intelligent i'm sure you will catch on quick and feel ashamed you posed this redundant idea

Jump fatigue and jump range were designed and intended to work together to limit long range power projection while having a minimal impact on local battles. To eliminate either one of them destroys the system and opens back up to the unrestricted long range jump problems we had before.

Now to your resupply issues.
To be honest in a game of alts your resupply seems to be the result of poor planning or perhaps a complete failure to plan as such no changes are needed to the jump range / jump fatigue system. As the old adage goes failure to plan is the same as planning to fail. A pro tip from someone who had to plan for resupply during real combat operations, at least 50% of the total time spent planning needs to be dedicated to your resupply. Start planning, understand the limits of the ships and fatigue / range issues, add a creative use of alts and you will not have resupply problems for most of what you do.

For very far locations or to get around fatigue can use gates.

It can be risky or slow but hey thats eve, many different choices to get to the same goal.

A T2 bowhead wouldn't be a terrible idea. Of course you could fit much more in a JF in terms of quantity, but until you can do ship couriers through contracts it would be easier to eat fatigue.

I couldn't agree more on the range proposal. Capitals should be able to jump 10AU but not less.

You could base fatigue on distance jumped rather than amount of jumps, so you could solve the issue of short jump range and still keep power projection relatively local.

Or they could just move regions a bit closer together which would also solve your problem without affecting power projection.

i would totally support a t2 version of the bowhead thats got a jump drive!

im 100% for this... allow it to carry up to 2-3 battleships fitted... i see no problem with it.

give it the exact same stats as a JF, 90% fatigue reduction and 10LY jump range.. i don't find this overpowered in anyway since a normal JF can move more then that.

ccp could also think about making a low slot mod or rig that functions like a cargo expander but for the SMA.

And make it right around the same build cost as the current jump freighters.

so your paying 7 billion for the ability to save your rigs pretty much.

seems like a fair trade off.

Or both number of jumps and distance.

+1 T2 Bowhead!

With jump drive capability exactly like a JF.

Keep the LY and fatigue limitations like they are now (they work).

I'd like the option to have a 7Bisk ship to stop losing rigs!
