We need a 30min warning before cluster shutdown - I'm pissed.

I like EVE, I've been playing it for about a week now, and purchased the 1 month subscription about 2 days ago. I like a lot of thing in this game.
But why the heck would you only give a 10 min warning that's barely noticeable!? I went afk for about 10 mins and when I get back the cluster has been shutdown and my ship is hanging in a mining belt. Are you serious?
I'm not the only one hating this.
But please, for christ sake. Make the warnings LONGER and more NOTICEABLE

There was a warning well before about an imminent shutdown. They have to fix the game sometime...

The warning is 1 hour, then another at 30 mins then 15 and then a 5 min on screen countdown. (Unless they changed it in the last patch). Well thats for downtime.

If there are problems and CCP need to shut the servers down to fix something then they give as much notice as they can.

If you were happy to leave your ship in a belt for 10 mins whilst afk, why are you so upset that your ship was logged off whilst in a belt?
Its safer logged off than when you left it. You should thank CCP for saving your ship from being ganked.

Yea, sometimes when me and my friend is playing. Sometimes he gets the warning, and I don't.. That's also something that's really odd, that it hasn't been fixed.

hi Willow i would like to also dive in and strongly suggest not afking in a mining belt, aside from random npc ships that can and so spawn into those and attack there are players who feed upon anyone engaging in mining. So much safer to just pop into a station especially early on, when you're just finding your feet the last thing you want is to lose a ship

maybe when you have mega billions then you can afford to throw away a hull here and there (shooting drifter battleships works, i have tested that - Dont try it!)

But yeah this is apparently an unplanned downtime, its normally daily (nightly for some parts of the world) at 11:00 server time hence the seemingly sudden nature

They pop up on the screen often when there is going to be a shutdown. Also check your notifications.

Seriously....you were afk mining....and now you are are afk logged out at a belt....I don't really see an issue...

I suggest you accept this as a hazard of AFK mining, especially near server shut down time.

Well, I'm just gonna reply for all of you in one message. Since I can't answer contantly and I have to wait 5 mins for each meesage

Well, I have drones, and they're more than just able to defend me from A.I. I'm mining in a decent sized ship, with good hull etc.
Also, note. The Belt I'm mining in, is in a 0.8 system. And theres rarely anyone around here.

For the notifications, I've never spotted a messages saying "1 hour till restart" - or whatever.
Which makes me wonder. is there a setting that could be turned off?

EDIT: The guy who said "I Require 1000 skills.. blah".. Did I say anything about that? No. I simply made this thread because it's stupid that you can't do something in a hurry and having to come back to the servers restarting. I think you misunderstood me there.
And, I'm mostly always positive. But this is just so annoying having to loose drones and what not. -Just informing here, right?

Also for everyone who missed it he isn't talking about down-time.

There was an emergency server reboot.

As for your drones - they nerfed the game years ago for whiners like you - they fly back into your drone bay automatically as you disconnect now. So they are warm and fuzzy in your drone bay right now.

I did not mean to be "Whining", at any point at all. All tho, I said it's annoying. Which you can't argue about.
And then for the automatic drones coming back in your drone bay is BS. I logged in to my drones gone. They're cheap. But I could imagine having decent drones that's alot worth, this could be a problem.

For the "Noticablitly" (can i use such a word?) hit that "broadcast" icon ingame and see what happened. I even think it stays open.
You also don´t wave your fist towards your radio because you only hear the last few accords of your favorite song because you tuned in to late - i hope at least.

EDIT:
Oh - and it´s patch day. Old saying is: Never play on patch day.

The notifications section is your friend in this case. If you are not getting the notifications go into the settings section, the GEAR, and under the CCP heading you shall find all that needs to be checked in order to have them pop up.

And if youre afk and you missed things well... that is entirely your fault.Roll

No, I'm serious. As mentioned. My friend can see the message sometimes.. I CAN'T. And I'm going to check my settings. I haven't changed anything. Eveyrthing is by default.

Its pops up on your screen as a notification. The same way all other notifications pop up. Click on the floating RSS feed type icon and have a look at your settings, see if you have turned any off.

It will be hard to notice the notification when you are afk because it doesn't hang around on your screen waiting for you to dismiss it.

Nobody is talking about the daily reboot. There were several messages in the notification feed. Afaik they appear as blue icons with numbers and linger until you click them. Pretty visible but only if you're present at the keyboard of course.
