Reimbursement Absurdity

So, here's the context. I've been out of the game for a while due to wanting to focus on my exams in May... but, naturally, I keep in touch with my homies as we all do, and what they have had to say has rather served to put me off of this game further.

Imagine my surprise when one of them relays to me a couple of very interesting messages regarding CCPs current reimbursement policy. In a more minor case, an associate of his got reimbursed for a pod because he couldn't dock. Why couldn't he dock? Because he had an aggression timer. Reimbursed anyway.

But bear with me, it gets better.

So a rather useless griefer gets himself a new shiny Paladin and wants to try it out. Takes it into low sec, hops into some sort of guristas site... and explodes. Fairly run of the mill event, I'm sure. Thing is, CCP reimbursed it because the guy filed a petition claiming that a 'bug' set his resistances to 0% even with the bastion module active. Here is the lossmail:

Now can anybody spot the 'bug' in question? You're smart chaps, of course you can.

So my discussion point/question is this: since when did this game start to merrily reimburse people for being just plain stupid? Fitting polarised guns is not a 'bug', shooting somebody on the station is not a 'bug' or 'lag'...

Whatever happened to HTFU? Do we now just tell people to cry to CCP so they will fix it? And if CCP are going to reimburse everything, well... whats the point?

As far as i know that's not the reinbursment policy of CCP. They do reinburse losses from time to time, but only if it's a loss due to very special circumstances the player couldn't avoid (Server issues, etc.).

Need a little bit more evidence before i join the CCP-Bash-Bandwagon. The "A-friend-of-a-friend-told-me"-Things mostly turn out to be rumors or only contain half of the story. Or are simply allegations from someone who want's to ease their stupidity (see killmail) in front of their corpmates / enemys with a "doesn't matter, i got reinbursed anyways, lolz".

I say these are probably cases of oversight rather then ccp genuinely intending to reimburse them for something that was not their fault,

i lost charon duo desync between server and client and gm dude told me that any loss caused by client bugs are not good for reimbursment.

CCP dev admitted that there are desync problems, lot of ppl getting 'em on ever day, and dev said they are working on fix... and still its my fault i lost ship :)

Any mechanism, like reimbursement, that helps people is ripe for gaming by anyone stuck in that developmental phase where you get free stuff. CCP know this, every adult knows this.
Your friends lied, you found a killmail but have no access to logs, you think this matters but you're wrong.

I am in fact staring at the petition response right now but CCP rules prevent me from posting petition responses on the forum... ;)

Claims based on contents of a petition, check.

3. Ranting is prohibited.

A rant is a post that is often filled with angry and counterproductive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and is helpful in development of the game and community. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise and clear manner while avoiding going off on rambling tangents.

10. Posting of private CCP communication is prohibited.

The posting of private communication between the Game Masters, EVE Team members, Moderators, Administrators of the forums and forum users is prohibited. CCP respect the right of our players to privacy and as such you are not permitted to publicize private correspondence (including support ticket responses and emails) received from any member of CCP staff.

36. Posting of kill reports outside of the Crime & Punishment forum channel is prohibited.

More often than not, posts of this nature are made with inflammatory intent and are designed to promote trolling and flaming. Therefore, the posting of links to kill reports from any third party site, or the direct copy-pasting of kill reports from in game is prohibited on all forum channels of the EVE Online Forums, with the exception of the Crime & Punishment Channel.

Specific rules regarding the omission of pilot names apply in this instance. Further details can be found in the rules stickies in the Crime & Punishment forum channel.

Since the only way to support your post is to break rule 10 (See Above) I am going ahead and close this thread.
