There was some pretty good discussion here. It looks like it died in the midst of the random personal attacks (and doubting of eve cred/epeen?).

Would like to give some perspective, maybe that will help a touch?

First, I'm a shameless bear. I enjoy WH PVP as well. For the first two years I wan in corp I was pretty much a highsec mission runner. I've continued to watch amd chat with highsec entities, new corps, and recruited new players.

My experience has been:
1. When we fought back against smaller war targets (when they decced us) - they would just out boredom us if we camped the system they were in.
2. When we did nothing and watched local we could get away with pretty un interrupted bearing.
3. All of our new players (with either a ton or no pvp inclination) had a ****** experience. Usually because they don't understand the mechanics or realized that feeding kills made the dec go on longer.

We now operate as a wh corp, but even then, it is amazingly easy to avoid highsec decs. From an adaptation strategy, most of our corp has out of corp hauling characters. Its easy to drop corp and just keep bearing on and rejoin after the dec ends (we do have a couple of hs bears and incursion runners thst don't like the limitations).

There is no reason for us to pvp on a deccers agenda.

My only gripe against war decs in the entire time I've played is that it is extremely unfriendly for new players. I remember when I was recruiting when we would grow quickly in a short amount of time decs would always be inbound. Its sad how big the NPC corps in eve are... and how many players have been in them for years out of fear.

My two cents are it would be great if there was a way to encourage players to join player corps (would offer more war targets) and a way to make wars less crippling for new players. I don't knownwhat mechanics would encourage tjis, any suggestions?

Lets be straight, if I still spent a lot of time in hs now I would absolutely just move new players to a hs island, play in lowsec, or advise them to drop corp temporarily. There just isn't a lot of good reasons to take 5-10 new players into a maw of violence, other than lowsec blowing uo cheap frigs.
Edit, I'm on my phone spelling mistakes will stay.

Aye the thread started out pretty well, had some good discussion, and a few pages in it died. I've pretty well given up on continuing the original topic by now, but it wasn't a waste of time, I did get at least some partial answers to my questions and I do think it was a good valuable discussion for a while there.

Unfortunately I don't think there is any good way to fix it, it is too broken. Life goes on, and we adapt to the game as it is now. I'll continue missing the good old days though lol

Cyno in subcaps/tackle at a planet, kill inhibitor, cyno in caps.

I think we're known for being good at this.

Highsec fight then...

Right, like that is a problem.. maybe stick with easy-mode lowsec stuff and press F1 when instructed then. Maybe one day, if you train hard enough, you too will become an elite Highsec warrior like our friendly Highsec mercs and gankers here. But judging by your comments I fear it is a long way.

Yeah pretty much what Noxisia said. These days any High-Sec corp that provides any kind of reliable fight is perma-dec'd (see: Eve Uni) and those that don't get dec'd every so often anyways.

Since people aggressively engaging in high-sec PvP are, almost by definition, looking for an unfair fight it's rarely worthwhile to engage with them. They simply don't fight unless they think they can win, the list of tricks that will work on them gets pretty small pretty quickly, and if you can reliably fight them off then they simply go elsewhere until you get bored or complacent, because they've almost definitely got a dozen or two other corps dec'd as well.

Those who actually do enjoy PvP as a lifestyle either get burnt out by this constant aggression or simply move to Low, Null, or Wormholes where the fights are better and more prevalent.

These days it's possible to Graduate from Eve Uni without ever actually being in the corp except to receive your medal, because the corp is constantly dec'd and if you want to engage in PvE without losing your ship it's simply safer to join one of the literally hundreds of smaller corps people use as safe-havens.

Some people like this sort of constant PvP environment, but those who do are going to join a corp that offers it (like Eve Uni, or RvB), and those who don't are going to quickly get tired of it and start dropping corp when it pops up.

I have tags, what I don't have is a enemy worth using them on.

I can kill Cynabal's at my leisure in lowsec, why would I come to highsec for that?

Especially when they're properly fit Cynabals, and not that armor monstrosity you prefer.
