Spend any amount of time reading f&i and you will end up with a grab bag.

My personal favorite one was along the lins of
"other players are better at eve than i am, and theyre co operating,
ccp this isnt fair,
please adress this immediatly or ill unsub my eleventy twelve accounts ktnxbby"

Ihavent seen "eve 2" tabled in a while but its definitlybeen asked for a lot.
Always laughed at of corse and rightly so.

I remember that thread!Lol

I've never really understood the concept of "I can never catch up", by the way. When I first got into the game there were people who had been playing for 5 years and had more skill points than I even knew what to do with. I just accepted that as part of the game and it never really mattered.

Only 7-8 months into the game I managed to tackle a Loki and hold it down while tanking it's damage until blues could show up to take him out. I think I was in a shitfit Navy Omen.

People need to drop the inferiority complex and just play for their own enjoyment.

"Eve 2" pretty well happens every month or so, what with this release or that expansion. Sometimes it affects what i do, most times it doesn't. A bunch of it is little things, like icons, graphics, animations and the *%$#(*&) hangar videos.

Forum Rep for a bunch of characters, couple corps and one seriously Lost In Space multiboxer.

The whole "I can never catch up" thing is foreign to a game like EvE anyway. The whole point of the EvE universe is that it supposedly has been there for much longer than when you first were born into it, and therefore it's reasonable to expect a whole universe of people and cultures of any amount of experience and history when you're a noob. Eventually, you stop being a noob, but you should never "catch up" to those who came before you, just as the noobs that start when you're an 8 year bittervet will never catch up to you.

The thing that actually makes New Eden a fantastic experience is the richness of such diversity. My Dust alt Alena Asakura is on record as saying the same thing about Dust. It was a shame that it was ever discontinued, and I still believe this will haunt CCP for some time, unless and until it's ported in some form into Nova and then back onto PS4.

The idea of a "reset" of any form in any of the games CCP develops is ludicrous.

Yeah, CCP would NEVER decide to wipe out all progress from all players of one of their games, and then make them start anew on a PC instead of a PS3.... wait....

Yeah, that's the one flaw in that statement. They'll almost certainly never reset EVE, but to say they've never done so for any of their games is now inaccurate.

In EVE 2.0 the only rat left to grind is you. Shocked

Then again I suppose you would still need to be able to build things via industry and mining... oh hell did I really just say that.

What would goons do all day in such a game? Station spin?

I did say there are no safe unattackable stations right?

Oh, even better!

Some people have been talking about the idea of Project Nova players being able to raid into ALL space stations to capture ships docked inside even when the player who owns them isn't online. Obviously we've been telling them that's crazy, but hey, in EVE 2 anything goes!

AVAST!! Hang the scallywags from the nearest yardarm!! Or better yet, pod the buggers. Let the universe be the universe, man-up and get your head out your backside. EVE is a living, growing thing, that has just started to form into something even greater that it is, with unlimited potential.

If you want to find something that has a ending then your not going to find it here.

I think he was talking about me.

I made the thread because I honestly didn't understand why that keeps being brought up every week or so. Not just here either. I see people bring that up on Reddit and even YouTube on occasion and I just don't understand why anyone would think that turning this game off and starting over from scratch would magically make everything better.

I guess the part I wasn't considering is what some of the people in this thread pointed out: people who see veterans as a threat would now be on "equal footing" with them based on everyone's SP being reset. Of course, that says nothing about knowing how to play the game - which is more important than SP - but that's just people's misconception of how the game actually works I guess.

Might I suggest a less antagonistic reason for people wanting EVE2 than I've seen so far here?

I can? Thanks.

Perhaps it's that there is over twelve years of code, much of it redundant and most of it sub par, causing all kinds of problems and making changes for the better nearly impossible. Perhaps people want a reboot to improve and modernize the game.

What I'm seeing in this thread is a bunch of old curmudgeons that fail to see the difference between reboot and reset.

Well CCP is already going back and re-writing old code that's holding back new features. They've been doing that for years.

I'm not an old curmudgeon, I'm a new one!

A full re-write when you already have fully functioning code is an utter waste of time and money. I wish I could say that was opinion, but it's not. In the software world you need to have a darned good reason to start from scratch and re-code.

You fix bugs because bugs are just things that aren't working as designed. Could old code be causing those bugs, certainly, but if so you either prune it off, or fix it to have the right impact you are looking for in the game. You don't go, well, that old code there is stinky so let's just burn down the whole game and start from a blank slate again.

Whatever EVE 2.0 fans have in mind, it would have to be an entirely different game with an entirely different objective. Old code is not a goal or an obstacle, it's just code, no matter the year it was written in.

Framing comments, complaints and ideas into some EVE 2.0 matrix is nothing more than a way to disguise the negative feeling comment toward some aspect of the current game.

EVE is always changing there is no 2.0. There is build 10,234,2347.02.17-A2 though.

EVE is the way CCP wants it to be, we as players may provide content and tools and ideas, but it will always be CCP's game and the goals of that game are theirs to determine.

I didn't say they've never done so. I said the idea is ludicrous. The fact they have doesn't stop it being ludicrous.

Yes, they've reset Dust many times. That doesn't mean the idea isn't ludicrous. It just shows you how idiotic CCP is.
