Ratting in a Pirate BS only gives me 30m/hour?

When I bought my Rattlesnake, I felt like a little kid during Christmas. I bought some skill injectors and quickly trained up on drones and missile skills, earning me about 1000 DPS using T2 kinetic cruise missiles and Republic Fleet Bouncers. My mates who already own ships of the sort told me that if I do Angel Havens, I should be able to make well over 150 million ISK an hour. So I fit my resistances accordingly, load up the drones and MTU and head out.

After an hour of ratting, where I started with 600 million ISK, I looked in my wallet and only found that I have won only 30 million ISK in the course of this hour. This is kind of ridiculous as even mining in a T1 barge can make more. I don't know what I do wrong - I warp in at 70km, drop my sentries and MTU and fire away. Why am I making so little?

I run havens in a rattlesnake and make 80-120 mil an hour. A haven pays 30-40 mil in bounty. I can do 2-2.5 lazily an hour, 3- 3.5 an hour if im grinding. I only use standard missiles. T2/faction are a waste of money on rats.

One of your problems is your using sentries. Sentries suck for ratting. Heavies are far better for killing rats. I use heavies to kill everything when ratting. They have better tracking and better damage application and its faster than switching drones in and out. They also tank like a dream. So i fit less tank and more damage mods.

Support skills and experience matters when it comes to efficiency.

150 mil is on the high side of running havens. I would say with a good fit and experience if your grinding expect around 90 million. 150 mil is more doable for sanctums . Plexing can net you a couple hundred million or more per hour.

But if its taking you longer than ~35 minutes to run a haven in a snake you are extremely inefficient.

Rattler, if flown well, should do at least 60m/hr, more reasonably would be 90-100m/hr. Vindicator in the right setup can do up to 150m/hr, but that's very active. Carriers can do ~200m+ /hr, also very active.

I was told about the carrier doing really well last night, my first thought was "what, people rat in carriers now.... and it's normal???"
Obviously I've been away for a while and jumped in my carrier saw these new fangled fighters bays etc , fancy rockets and mwd and thought nice carriers might actually be useful now.
Took it out for a spin and still only managed to get the same sort of ticks that I was getting in my rattle so I'm puzzled by these 200mill an hours mentions..

And yes I have pretty much perfect carrier/drone/fighter skills, how on earth are people doing 200mil an hour in carriers? I can imagine maybe "when I get back into the swing of it" maybe managing 100-120mill an hours but I just can't see 200mill ever happening.

Anyway regardless I still shudder of the thought of using a carrier to rat in so will go back to my good old usual of flying around trying to catch stuff because ratting is dead boring.

Nidhoggur in Forsaken Hubs has just enough missile salvos to kill any non-BS, and has a few left for the last wave. 70m ticks if done properly.

........

OP.

If you want to make ISK, just join TEST and steal their treasury.

Might take some time, but the ISK/hour should be well over 100 mill+............

Your friends were liars and i knew this would happen with sp injectors coming into play.
People want endgame content NOW NOW NOW and get huffy when it's a little different in outcome.
Not everybody replaces sp with faction everything, not everybody buys their way to advancement, but the desire to do so has allowed both isk and sp to be removed from the economy.
T2 ammo on rats? Just don't.

I earn 200m per hour in my trusty Velator, with no need to speak to the Russians or anyone else for that matter. Big smile

I rat in a thanny and 50m ticks are about the best I can do. 100-150m per hour is more reasonable from what I've seen. Can do 25-30 ticks in the rattlesnake. It sounds like you are missing some drone skills or something, I have 14m sp in drones.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

AFAIK, in a snake you should use either kin or therm for every rat depending on the rat because even at level 2 gallente BS one of those will do more damage than the primary damage type.

I make almost triple that in my Nightmare running Sanctums. Do you have nullsec space you can PvE in?

If not I could recommend Providence to you. Plenty of max-upgrade systems and neutral friendly!

At a guess his problem is technique/knowledge and any of :

- there was a tick pending when he checked
- he mentions an MTU; he may have spent ages farting around with these
- he may have doubled-down on that and tried to salvage
- he may have missed a lot of important drone skills when injecting; if his '1000dps' is mostly his fury ammo he's applying **** all
- had his drones set to passive and wasn't pressing F
