When I launch the New Launcher it comes up with a solid black box. There are no words, but the icons come up in the upper right hand corner to change settings. Please advise, thank you.

Same exact issue, I can minimize, "X" out, and select "E" setting. That's about it. I am using RDP to connect to a machine that has the new launcher.

Try setting an environment variable called QT_OPENGL to one of the following values:
desktop
angle
software

See http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000549.htm if you are unsure of how set environment variables.

This environment variable controls how Qt, the framework used by the launcher, renders it's UI. It seems that on some systems the default values result in drawing problems, and this may be a workaround until we figure out the issue.

Tried setting up QT_OPENGL en variable. Setting the value to "desktop" makes things worse. Where even top line with " E - X" becomes invisible.
Setting the variable to "angle" or "software" has no impact. Identical behavior as if no variable was set at all.

This is indeed a rendering issue, since when I hover over the black portion of the launcher, the mouse pointer switches from an error to a "link" pointer indicating i am over a "clickable" section. When i click the mouse in some cases browser opens, to ether news or "forgot password".

I'd like to point out, that I am connecting remotely to the machine via RDP. When I tried directly on the machine, the launcher rendered no problems. Leaving launcher open and reconnecting VIA RDP will show full content (strange) and will allow to select characters, log in, and play.

Very strange indeed.

"Try setting an environment variable called QT_OPENGL to one of the following values:

I attempted this using each variable and discovered although no option worked, the "desktop" option caused the New Launcher to not even start.

I am having this same issue but can find nothing to adjust under QT_OPENGL anywhere in the options available for environment variables.

After updating to Windows 10 the New Launcher works just fine. I apologize for this, good luck. Fly safe.

I'm getting the exact same behavior, running Windows 7. Uninstalled Eve, then re-installed fresh. No change. Tried setting the environment variable, same results as everyone above described.

Windows 7 still supported, isn't it? Must I upgrade now to 10?

Windows 7 is supported, yes - my main dev machine is still Windows 7, even.

Are your video drivers up to date?

Yes, drivers up to date.

I tried seeing if changing my display settings would work. The first thing I tried worked - color depth was set to 16 bit, and I changed it to 32. Launcher screen now visible.

Lucky....

I also had this issue on Windows 7 but managed to fix it by changing display's color depth from 16bit to 32bit :)

PS. First tried environment variable trick but that prevented launcher from starting at all

I'm having this same issue as well. I've submitted a support ticket. With the patch today taking away the ability to log in from the client screen, I can no longer play the game. Drivers are up to date. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Tried the environment variables. Tried the repair tool. Running on Windows 7.

I just want to fly space ships. CCPlz

EDIT: I found a fix:

I use an NVIDIA supported GPU. I opened my NVIDIA control panel and changed my color depth from 16-bit to 32-bit and now I can see the launcher properly.

I can confirm that switching from 16-bit to True Color 32-bit screen fixes the black screen issue (AMD Radeon R9 200 series). I also have QT_OPENGL desktop variable, but don't know if that helped or not.

Switching to 32 bit fixed it for me as well. This fix should be added to the help center topic on this issue.
