Minmatar ship graphics needs: GLOWING PIPES!

In the last o7 show there was an interview with CCP Pointybits, where he said that Minmatar ships should have more scaffolding: -> https://youtu.be/O6hpLARvPLo?t=50m

If CCP Pointybits ment with scaffolding; -> more frameworks (like in for example the Hound), then I am completely behind him. If he ment the scaffolding they normally put around buildings, then I am having certain doubts, but I think he ment frames... at least I hope so...

Okay now for my suggestion for updating the Minmatar ship graphics:
I have watched many videos of Colin Furze (who could be a Minmatar engineer) and one of his creations is a kart powered with a jet engine (please see the video): -> https://youtu.be/zsXWspo5hrc
This is I think a perfect example of what a Minmatar ship should be like and I think that Minmatar ships should have just like the jetkart the following features, if CCP is going to update the Minmatar ship graphics one day:

  • Engines so big they are bulking out (like on any typical pimped hot rod).
  • The pipes of the engine should glow (like in Colin Furze's video I linked above):
  • - 1 : At 'normal' speed the pipes should glow red.
    - 2 : At AfterBurner speed the pipes should glow from red to yellow.
    - 3 : At MicroWarpDrive speed the pipes should glow from red to yellow to bright white.

I really hope that this is possible in the current graphics engine and that this will also be taken in serious consideration by CCP.
If you make this happen I will be eternally grateful, because this is so Minmatar! Cool

I hardly fly minmatar ships but this sounds epic

I'm -fairly- sure the stabber hull does this already, get into one and mess with the speed when you're zoomed in on the engines.

That said, +1

I took my Stabber out to see for myself, but I do not see anything and I have all my graphics on the highest settings.... Ugh

Just to make sure; I am not talking about the flames (which are awewsome too, well done, CCP!) coming out of the nozzles, I am talking about the pipes/tubing going from the engine to the nozzles and the engine itself, which should all bulk out (like a hot rod engine; see image for an example-> http://img3.goodfon.su/original/1920x1210/d/f6/ford-coupe-1934-twin-turbo-3205.jpg ) on the outside of the ship and glow in a Black Body Spectrum fashion. Here is another video of Colin Furze showing the glowing metal tubing of the same jet engine he later on mounted on that kart, showing you what I mean: https://youtu.be/n9PMD8fcvAk

Caldari and Gallente have all kinds moving bits and pieces on their ships, but the Minmatar ships shouldn't have any kind of that sophisticated engineering (apart from some duct tape flapping around and about of course); so I thought our ships should have some exposing glowing metal tubing instead to distinguish ourselves from the other races! If I'm reading this right, basically making Minmitar ships the chopped up, 1%ers of the ship lines? I think I could get behind that. :D

+1

I understand about indecision, but I don't care if I get behind.  People livin' in competition.  All I want is to have my peace of mind.

Hmm, Rowells has a point... maybe the Angel Cartel faction ships should have 'red -> yellow -> white' glowing metal tubing and Minmatar ships should have 'red -> orange -> yellow' glowing metal tubing...

Also about potential Minmatar ship's moving bits; the movement should be a very clunky motion for Minmatar ships, where things clap out too fast to the end-point, where it oscilates/shakes/vibrates itself slowly down to a steady state afterwards. Or when the moving bit retracts again; it doesn't completely close and stuff like that.... it definitely shouldn't be as smooth as for the Gallente/Caldari/Amarr ship's moving bits! Pirate
