Hello fellows.

I'm a rather new player, and I plan to join a corporation very soon. I mostly plan to do activities of covert ops ships, so, exploration as PVE/way to earn ISK activity, and stealth bombing as PVP profession. So, I would join a corpo and alliance in both these.

But my question is: how to choose well?

Could you give me some advices on the matter? Could you give me some basic informations and background about the different major alliances, and about the colaitions? What are their philosophies and what distinguish them from one another?

I know it's probably a quite vague question, but the community and its spirit you end in is probably quite important.

Thank you

first pick the area of space you want to live in, most alliances will be dictated by this. You have four options:

1. High Security
2. Low Security
3. Null Security
4. Anoikis (wormhole space)

Beware of corps/alliances that advertise or talk about involvement in a lot of different activities or areas. Nearly all of them suck at everything they say they're engaged in.

Focused corp/alliance is best corp/alliance.

This is the best advice I've ever received, and the best I can pass along to you.

"We do a bit of everything. please join us, it'll be fun". Avoid those like the plague. Also I'd avoid groups that have no requirements or standards, because it'll be full of non-effort zombies who will drag you down to their level of shittiness.
