Currently the Assault Frigate (AF) is having a hard time finding a place in fleet. This idea could help fix that and add a fun new mechanic to work with.

I just want to throw out a few options and ideas. If this ever were to happen I am sure CCP has people who can work out the specifics better than I could.

I would imagine that there may be a capital sized module for a high slot. When the module is fitted, online, and the capital pilot has allowed access to the module for his fleet members, then an AF would be able to "dock" in the capital similar to the way we dock in citadels with the outside view. Once docked the Capital pilot could then fire the AF.

There are several possibilities for how the AF could be fired. It could have speed or it could be instant, it could have adjustable range, fixed range, or even use a targeting system. One possibility is the capital could lock the target and fire the AF to within 500m of the target. Perhaps the capital would pass the targeting solution to the AF as it was fired so that the AF would already have target lock on arrival.

Another possibility is perhaps a smaller version could be made to be mounted on a BS, with heavy fitting requirements and a much lower rate of fire.

A suggestion for the name is the Piloted Charge Cannon, or PCC.
