Why is the dear CCP team wasting time, resources and our bandwidth by fixing what's not broken (i.e. replacing perfectly ok wormhole icons with new, glaringly red ones), and not instead fixing what is broken - sensor overlay disappearing after using the probing map?

It pains me to see directionless additions like the new wormhole icons when there are so many other obvious issues that should be resolved first.

Please try to establish some priorities.

Why are you wasting time posting feedback in GD?

a. They have a feedback thread in the Information subforum.

b. They don't care.

EDIT:

To answer your question, too, they have different priorities. New features and especially new graphics, even if majorly bugged, bring in more new players than bug fixing everything and having a polished product. It's been proven statistically over and over, with many games.

So your question like asking Microsoft why they came up with all the Vista, Win8, and Win10 stupid features when XP and Win7 were pretty good, certainly sufficient for most private and business uses. Why did they push for Win8 and Win10 when they could have fixed the many blue-screen issues that still affected Win7.

It's probably allocation of programming resources.

You can't stick all your developers in the same area of code or it will just make it take longer. Plus, different developers will have different level of industry and Eve coding experience. It makes sense to assign a newer developer to updating the Eve interface to modern standards.

You know that different people work on different things right? If you needed the wiring in your house fixed, would you demand that the guy painting the walls do it? Well you apparently would. And then your house would burn down.

Some have posted this in a more 'interesting' fashion but reality is, you are talking about radically different coding teams in your example.

The Art Team (making those pretty icons) likely has nothing to do with the User Interface team (doing the coding for the overlays and such).

The reason why releases look so disjointed is that all the different teams have different things they were working on that are ready for release. Yes, they collaborate when a new major release is planned because they have to look like they have their ducks in a row, but reality is that not all those ducks are nicely in a line, the right color or even quack properly. They have a deadline and they will plaster stuff over to make it look like its ready to roll even though it's hiding a ton of defects.

This is HYPER common in the MMO and software world. Marketing demands a reliable date, nothing is worse than missing your target date according to some marketing concepts. "You can always patch later" is the mantra.

*I* don't agree with that. I'd rather they held back for a month or two and gave out a more polished product, but that's just me. I can't miss what I haven't had in my hands yet. That doesn't mean I don't understand or don't accept the other method, I do, I'm used to it. Sometimes other things pressure deadlines that can't be moved or dropped.
