New fighters and tracking mods?

For PVE:

I have tried the new carrier fighters with tracking mods on the carrier and without and have found no appreciable difference in DPS or ISK per 20 minute ticker.

In fact, I have now gone into the habit of insta popping the frigate NPCs with missiles as they are the only real threat to my fighters.

In the one PVP engagement I did use my fighters against 2 tackling ceptors I pretty much popped them using the exact same strategy: target quickly, hit MWD on fighter, hit cannon, hit missile when the fighter squadron was close - dead ceptor.

And this without a single tracking mod on the carrier.

So my question is, is there any reason to fit tracking mods on PVE carriers anymore?

Looking at isk ticks is kinda of a wierd metric for gauging damage application but that really isn't what you are doing. From a whers perspective, the rats are much tougher so I guess the effects of tracking mods might reflect better in site completion times.

That's because as far as I can tell they don't have tracking at all. They were able to hit my microwarping condor no problem.

Fighters have an optimal, and a falloff, but no tracking.
It's hits get calculated with the missile formula, and they DO have explosion velocity and radius. In Falloff, damage gets reduced accordingly.

Tracking mods, when scripted for optimal, would give your fighters more range. I'd suggest you use navigation computers, as unlike on regular drones, they do not increase MWD speed but overall speed (which is a lot better.).

Or, you use tank / ewar / electronics in those slots. (I think the targeting thingy got malus to ewar capacitor tho?)
