“If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—forever.”

Looking at the history I don't see any difference.

Besides, people are more interested in which toilet a transgender person has the right to enter than the ever occuring boots in the face of humanity.

Just for the record, in the past pissing in the bushes did not result in any transgender drama

Once the people are indoctrinated with nationalistic beliefs, and the infrastructure to protect them from some constantly-changing and ever-expanding definition of an enemy is in place, there is no ability for the people to regain liberty. By the time all of the pieces are in place, not only is opportunity to regain freedom, but the will to achieve freedom has also evaporated. The reader will truly love Big Brother.

2nd paragraph from the top:
In its context the sense of the line is almost the exact opposite of this. The phrase ‘lesser breeds’ refers
almost certainly to the Germans, and especially the pan-German writers, who are ‘without the Law’ in the sense
of being lawless, not in the sense of being powerless. The whole poem, conventionally thought of as an orgy of
boasting, is a denunciation of power politics, British as well as German. Two stanzas are worth quoting (I am
quoting this as politics, not as poetry):

If, drunk with sight of power, we loose
Wild tongues that have not Thee in awe,
Such boastings as the Gentiles use,
Or lesser breeds without the Law —
Lord God of hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget — lest we forget!

For heathen heart that puts her trust
In reeking tube and iron shard,
All valiant dust that builds on dust,
And guarding, calls not Thee to guard,
For frantic boast and foolish word —
Thy mercy on Thy People, Lord!

3rd paragraph from the top:
Much of Kipling's phraseology is taken from the Bible, and no doubt in the second stanza he had in mind the text
from Psalm CXXVII: ‘Except the lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it; except the Lord keep the
city, the watchman waketh but in vain.’ It is not a text that makes much impression on the post-Hitler mind. No
one, in our time, believes in any sanction greater than military power; no one believes that it is possible to
overcome force except by greater force. There is no ‘Law’, there is only power. I am not saying that that is a
true belief, merely that it is the belief which all modern men do actually hold. Those who pretend otherwise are
either intellectual cowards, or power-worshippers under a thin disguise, or have simply not caught up with the
age they are living in. Kipling's outlook is prefascist. He still believes that pride comes before a fall and
that the gods punish hubris. He does not foresee the tank, the bombing plane, the radio and the secret police,
or their psychological results.

...
6th paragraph from the top:
But because he identifies himself with the official class, he does possess one thing which ‘enlightened’ people
seldom or never possess, and that is a sense of responsibility. The middle-class Left hate him for this quite as
much as for his cruelty and vulgarity. All left-wing parties in the highly industrialized countries are at
bottom a sham, because they make it their business to fight against something which they do not really wish to
destroy. They have internationalist aims, and at the same time they struggle to keep up a standard of life with
which those aims are incompatible. We all live by robbing Asiatic coolies, and those of us who are ‘enlightened’
all maintain that those coolies ought to be set free; but our standard of living, and hence our ‘enlightenment’,
demands that the robbery shall continue. A humanitarian is always a hypocrite, and Kipling's understanding of
this is perhaps the central secret of his power to create telling phrases. It would be difficult to hit off the
one-eyed pacifism of the English in fewer words than in the phrase, ‘making mock of uniforms that guard you
while you sleep’. It is true that Kipling does not understand the economic aspect of the relationship between
the highbrow and the blimp. He does not see that the map is painted red chiefly in order that the coolie may be
exploited. Instead of the coolie he sees the Indian Civil Servant; but even on that plane his grasp of function,
of who protects whom, is very sound. He sees clearly that men can only be highly civilized while other men,
inevitably less civilized, are there to guard and feed them.

...
20th and last paragraph:
One reason for Kipling's power as a good bad poet I have already suggested — his sense of responsibility, which
made it possible for him to have a world-view, even though it happened to be a false one. Although he had no
direct connexion with any political party, Kipling was a Conservative, a thing that does not exist nowadays.
Those who now call themselves Conservatives are either Liberals, Fascists or the accomplices of Fascists. He
identified himself with the ruling power and not with the opposition. In a gifted writer this seems to us
strange and even disgusting, but it did have the advantage of giving Kipling a certain grip on reality. The
ruling power is always faced with the question, ‘In such and such circumstances, what would you do?’, whereas
the opposition is not obliged to take responsibility or make any real decisions. Where it is a permanent and
pensioned opposition, as in England, the quality of its thought deteriorates accordingly. Moreover, anyone who
starts out with a pessimistic, reactionary view of life tends to be justified by events, for Utopia never
arrives and ‘the gods of the copybook headings’, as Kipling himself put it, always return. Kipling sold out to
the British governing class, not financially but emotionally. This warped his political judgement, for the
British ruling class were not what he imagined, and it led him into abysses of folly and snobbery, but he gained
a corresponding advantage from having at least tried to imagine what action and responsibility are like. It is a
great thing in his favour that he is not witty, not ‘daring’, has no wish to épater les bourgeois. He dealt
largely in platitudes, and since we live in a world of platitudes, much of what he said sticks. Even his worst
follies seem less shallow and less irritating than the ‘enlightened’ utterances of the same period, such as
Wilde's epigrams or the collection of cracker-mottoes at the end of Man and Superman.

Sun Tzu / Quotes

Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.

The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.

Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.

Sun Tzu

Strategist

Sun Tzu was a Chinese general, military strategist, and philosopher who lived in the Spring and Autumn period of ancient China. Wikipedia

Born: Qi
Died: 496 BC, Wu

http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/s/sun_tzu.html

If you know the enemy and know yourself you need not fear the results of a hundred battles.

Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories.

Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack.

Pretend inferiority and encourage his arrogance.

The quality of decision is like the well-timed swoop of a falcon which enables it to strike and destroy its victim.

The opportunity to secure
ourselves against defeat lies
in our own hands, but the
opportunity of defeating the
enemy is provided by the
enemy himself.

Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death.

All men can see these tactics whereby I conquer, but what none can see is the strategy out of which victory is evolved.

Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak.”
― Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.”

All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack,
we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive;
when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away;
when far away, we must make him believe we are near.”

If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them. If sovereign and subject are in accord, put division between them. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected .”

In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity”

Engage people with what they expect; it is what they are able to discern and confirms their projections. It settles them into predictable patterns of response, occupying their minds while you wait for the extraordinary moment — that which they cannot anticipate.”

Thus we may know that there are five essentials for victory:
1 He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight.
2 He will win who knows how to handle both superior and inferior forces.
3 He will win whose army is animated by the same spirit throughout all its ranks.
4 He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared.
5 He will win who has military capacity and is not interfered with by the sovereign.”

There is no instance of a nation benefitting from prolonged warfare.”

The art of war is of vital importance to the State. It is a matter of life and death, a road either to safety or to ruin. Hence it is a subject of inquiry which can on no account be neglected.”

Move swift as the Wind and closely-formed as the Wood. Attack like the Fire and be still as the Mountain.”

When the enemy is relaxed, make them toil. When full, starve them. When settled, make them move.”

Treat your men as you would your own beloved sons. And they will follow you into the deepest valley.”

When you surround an army, leave an outlet free. Do not press a desperate foe too hard.”

There are not more than five musical notes, yet the combinations of these five give rise to more melodies than can ever be heard.

There are not more than five primary colours, yet in combination
they produce more hues than can ever been seen.

There are not more than five cardinal tastes, yet combinations of
them yield more flavours than can ever be tasted.”

So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of
skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill”

who wishes to fight must first count the cost”

One may know how to conquer without being able to do it. ”

What the ancients called a clever fighter is one who not only wins, but excels in winning with ease.”

Be extremely subtle even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of the opponent's fate.”

He who is prudent and lies in wait for an enemy who is not, will be victorious.”

If you know the enemy and know yourself, your victory will not stand
in doubt; if you know Heaven and know Earth, you may make your
victory complete.”

Rouse him, and learn the principle of his activity or inactivity. Force
him to reveal himself, so as to find out his vulnerable spots.”

Thus the expert in battle moves the enemy, and is not moved by him.”

Anger may in time change to gladness; vexation may be succeeded by
content.
But a kingdom that has once been destroyed can never come again into
being; nor can the dead ever be brought back to life.”

Type conversion
Security issues[edit]
In hacking, typecasting is the misuse of type conversion to temporarily change a variable's data type from how it was originally defined.[2] This provides opportunities for hackers since in type conversion after a variable is "typecast" to become a different data type, the compiler will treat that hacked variable as the new data type for that specific operation.[3]

Murphy's Laws.

A short cut is the longest distance between 2 points

Anything that can go wrong will go wrong

No good deed goes unpunished

If you’re feeling good don’t worry, you’ll get over it.

90% of everything is crud.

Interchangeable parts – won’t

All warranties expire upon payment of invoice.

Where you stand on an issue depends upon where you sit.

Never eat prunes when you’re famished.

Leak-proof seals – will

Self-starters – won’t

If you try to please everybody, nobody will like it

Friends come and go but enemies accumulate

Everyone has a scheme to get rich that will not work.

In order to get a loan you must first prove you don’t need it.

Nature is a mother.

Don’t mess with Mrs Murphy

There is always 1 more bug

Whenever you set out to do something, something else must be done first

The chance of a piece of bread falling butter side down is directly proportional to the cost of the carpet.

A $300.00 picture tube will protect a 10 cents fuse by blowing first.

Anything you try to fix will take longer and cost more than you thought.

Everything east of the San Andreas fault will eventually plunge into the Atlantic Ocean.

The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong but that’s the way to bet.

A bird in the hand is safer than one overhead.

Anything good in life is either illegal, immoral or fattening

If everything seems to be going well, you obviously don’t know what the hell is going on.

The repairman will have never seen a model quite like yours before.

In any Hierarchy, each individual rises to his own level of incompetence, and then remains there.

No-one’s life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session.

No matter how hard or long you shop for an item, it will always be on sale somewhere cheaper.

You will always find something in the last place you look.

The other line always moves faster.

Build a system that even a fool can use and only a fool will use it.

A pipe gives a wise man time to think and a fool something to put in his mouth.

The light at the end of the tunnel is the headlamp of an oncoming train.

If more than one person is responsible for a miscalculation, no-one will be at fault.

Nature always sides with the hidden flaw.

Never sleep with anyone crazier than yourself.

Celibacy is not hereditary

Never argue with a fool, people might not know the difference.

To know yourself is the ultimate form of aggression.

Beauty is only skin deep, ugly goes down to the bone.

When in doubt, mumble. When in trouble, delegate.

In case of doubt, make it sound convincing

You remember to take out the trash when the garbage truck is 2 doors away.

Murphy’s golden rule. Whoever has the gold makes the rules.

It is morally wrong to allow suckers to keep their money.

There’s never time to do it right. But there’s always tie to do it over.

"The last time I gave an interview they told me to just relax and say what I really felt. Ten minutes after the broadcast I got transferred to an outpost so far off the starmaps you couldn't find it with a hunting dog and an ouiji board."
"Don't sweat it. Just be that charming, effervescent commander we've all come to know and love. What's the worst that could happen? They fire you, ship you off to the Rim and I get promoted to Commander. I don't see a problem here."
Sinclair and Garibaldi, Infection

"Ambassador, it is not my place to speculate on how anything gets in your bed."
Aide Na'Toth to G'Kar,The Parliament of Dreams

"Mr. Garibaldi, there're days I'm very glad I don't have to think the way you do."
Ivanova, And the Sky Full of Stars

"Ambassador Kosh has been a busy boy today."
"They say God works in mysterious ways."
"Maybe so, but He's a con man compared to the Vorlon."
Security Chief Michael Garibaldi and Sinclair, Deathwalker

The Babylon 5 mantra:
"Ivanova is always right. I will listen to Ivanova. I will not ignore Ivanova's recommendations. Ivanova is God. And if this ever happens again, Ivanova will personally rip your lungs out. Babylon Control out. [Sigh] Civilians. [Looking up] Just kidding about the God part -- no offense."
Lt. Commander Susan Ivanova, Voice in the Wilderness Part I

"I know, I know. It's a Russian thing. When we're about to do something stupid, we like to catalog the full extent of our stupidity for future reference."
Ivanova, A Voice in the Wilderness, Part II

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of "Spiritus Mundi"
Troubles my sight: somewhere in the sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indigent desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
G'Kar to Na'Toth, Revelations
Quoted sections are shown in italics. The poem is The Second Coming by William Butler Yeats.

"Weep for the future, Na'toth. Weep for us all."
"Are you all right?"
"I have looked into the darkness, Na'toth. You can not do that and never be quite the same again. When you told me about the destruction of our base at quadrant 37, I knew that only a major power could attempt an assault of that magnitude. But none of the governments here could've done it. Which left only two possibilities: a new race, or an old race. A very old race."
G'kar to Na'toth, Revelations

"This is Ambassador Delenn of the Minbari. Babylon 5 is under our protection. Withdraw, .. or be destroyed."
"Negative. We have authority here. Do not force us to engage your ship."
"Why not? Only one human captain has ever survived battle with Minbari fleet. He is behind me. You are in front of me. If you value your lives, be somewhere else."
Delenn and Captain Drake, Severed Dreams
