Raise the age restrictions to EVE to 18+

I am honestly not just saying this because I want minmatar slave girls :P but let me give you an example of what happens to companies who desperately try to appease stupid parents.

There was once a really popular T.V show, I'm sure some of you will remember it, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It ran into problems with a stupid parent who let their kid run around assaulting someone with a nun-chuck because of seeing michael angelo do it. There was a media **** storm apparently that I missed because of how young I was and I just liked watching the show I was and they censored any scene with michael angelo wielding nun-chuck's was deleted and the show was named Teenage Mutant HERO turtles.

Several years on and these stupid parents who blame everything but themselves being too incompetent to keep an eye on their kids are still bitching on about media and their effects on children because they can't be bothered teaching them that it isn't real and they shouldn't be doing that kind of thing to other people.

CCP, you can't win from them as long as you keep censoring, they'll still claim you're not doing enough, if EVE was more popular some kid would invent a high powered laser and use it on their sister who keeps annoying them and then you'd be forced to take out laser beams from your game. World of Warcraft was censored in germany to the point that that characters didn't even bleed when they were hit .

Don't even get me started on the other crap that's happened to other shows that are crazy popular, if you just raise it to 18 then you can just basically say "It's you're own fault for not reading the age restrictions", the parents who complain will look as stupid as they are, the kids will just buy it anyway using their parents' details and with their parents' knowledge and EVE players can get a more interesting and graphical game.

Everybody wins, well, except the stupid parents who want to sue you for lots of money on an imaginary crime.

If this means we get bouncing boobies and force field bras, I support this product and or service with 100 internets!

Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!

@Asuka

I'm an adult and so it wouldn't bother me, but it would be pointless, and I'm against it.

If you want to see nudity there are pornography sites on the internet. We don't need it in the game.

@Valei

Seriously that's a job of CCP legal department. And TBH nothing will prevent people from being plainly stupid.

But I never talked about nudity, CCP would just be free to develop whatever they damn well pleased without scrutiny, how would that be pointless?

CSB.

We are not advocating full on nudity or sex emotes.

But some sexy underwear and more raunchy looking outfits would go miles. It could be pushed to the limits of revealing digital flesh without crossing over into the porno industry.

Where is my star wars slave girl outfit....

You know, like this screenshot released by CCP ages ago.

Well, we would have had them like Asuka showed with the screenshot, but some players revolted and canceled their subscriptions, leading to CCP changing its working focus.

So, changes like that are going to be post-poned to something like 2013, since CCP said they're going to primarily work on balancing and upgrading Flying-in-Space, rather than Walking-in-Stations.

Unforeseen events always leads to sudden changes.

Ahh now I see why it changed to hero turtles. I was too old to care, although I did wonder at the time.

If parents have issues with with Eve, then I believe it's their problem to deal with at their end. I'm not sure it would be helpful to CCP to change and do they even rate their own game, age wise?

Reading threw the "controversy" section it seems like most of the above notes are now invalid.

If CCP endorsed adult orientated features that reduce there perspective subscribers they are mad.

It wouldn't reduce it, in fact I'm willing to bet that it will absolutely change nothing, what kills gaming is introducing crappy features and lots of technical problems.

Age restrictions on games are meaningless anyway, some parents will always buy them for their kids anyway.

That's my point, why not just put it up to 18+ and not bother with all the restrictions on content that come with keeping it lower anyway?

Is it the producer of a product that applies an age rating, or an independent body? I can't see any production company deliberately adding a higher age limit than that required by officialdom in case it damages sales.
If later they add content that requires a re-evaluation/ re-classification, then surely it's at that point they decide whether to keep the content and accept the classification, or remove it to keep whatever they had before?

Either way, if it's not hurting sales I doubt CCP are going to worry that much about it.

What restrictions? Do we really want CCP spending time coding space ****?

The stars on your sentence explain exactly what I'm on about.

That's easily explained away as keeping the forum worksafe.

You shouldn't be looking at a game forum while at work frankly so it'd be your own fault anyway.

Some places aren't that strict on what is viewed whilst at work, in fact some encourage a laid back atmosphere. But they still enforce block lists and sites containing heavy profanity will pop up red flags, not to mention the fact that censorship on the forums keeps things (somewhat) polite.

Anyway, seeing as there is zero censorship in game this is a non issue. There is also little/no incentive for CCP to introduce adult content, when a large part of their player base are probably under 18.

Perhaps if you could tell us what you envision CCP introducing that would justify an 18+ rating we would be a little more amenable in terms of supporting this proposal. And as much as I love Amarrian Minmatar slave girls, I don't count it as something I'd sacrifice thousands of noob easy targets younger subscribers for.
