For anyone with a pod skin like the one they gave out for the Eve anniversary I've noticed something that bugs me. Like a ship every time you enter the ship you have to select or equip the skin. For a ship that's not really an issue. But when is someone going to see your pod?... Yea right after you blow up. You wont have any skin at all on, and it's not like your going to sit around the battlefield to equip it before warping off. lol And the point of the skins is to show off.. I'm mean otherwise whats the point.

So what I'd like to see is a default selection for at least the pods (not a bad idea for ships either) so when you get in a selected ship or pod from ejection, your default skin is selected. This seems like a great idea and a simple one to implement by ccp. Anybody that agree's with this please post with comments and maybe ccp will take notice of this thread.

I noticed this last night as well. Makes them rather pointless.

It's for pod spinning. Rumour has it there's a prize after xx number of spins in one of the new capsule SKINs.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Signed.

Had the same question and annoyance today when I got the 'gift'. (offtopic: which is a lousy gift, other years got useful item but a stupid skin nobody will ever see... c'mon CCP)

Pretty much the first skin I ever used and I was surprised to see that your SKIN selection isn't persistent. Kind of weird.

I knew I should have sold the damn thing.
Even when you select the skin, jump into a ship and leave said ship (all in the same station), the skin is forgotten. I thought they were persistent as well.

This is why Goons lost.

Can't resub to fight a war, but resub to get a SKIN.

Non-persistent SKIN on the pod shouldn't bother you. When you are docked up, you don't need to get in a ship.

Thats because your pod is essentially destroyed when you board a ship, when your ship explodes a brand new pod is spawned which will use the default skin/gold implant skin where appropriate

Yes, but you sort of expect the thing to stick when selected. This is my first skin, and last one as well, so I didn't know the mechanic behind it. If skins act this way on regular ships as well, then wow.

I highly recommend you bug report this. This is not how it should function, reporting the bug is step 1 to bringing attention to the issue.

I agree that the point of vanity pod skins is moot if they don't appear functional when you eject or are blown up.

A POD is a Ship..so same mechanic there. its not a bug. After you go boom, the Item that was a Ship, will be replaced with a new Item..cause ship boom, that is a pod. the pod isent in your ship. so the skin must be aplied to this new item via Fitting screan like every other ship you reenter, lets say from your stockpile. Its not a bug in my opinion, anoying but not a bug.

I'd like to point out that at the 'ranges' we see each others ships at, we aren't even seeing the skins of the ships for the most part. Only capitals really stand out.

Therefore, skins are for you to look at and in dock, you can admire your blingy pod all you like.

Go put some TurtleWax on the little egg... then some dude in a gungy spacesuit comes over with a bottle of something that smells like pee and sprays it on your cockpit glass and wipes it with a disgusting rag and wants a tip... you grumble wondering where "Concord" is when you actually need them and fix a star searing glare towards the donut shop just down the bay.

I like the gift. It's nice. It's open to all and is not over powered or extreme in any regard.

My only quibble... There seems to be no difference when applied to the special pod implant that came with the collector's addition. Maybe I'm not seeing the difference. Still using my character with the implant pod and this one, when both apply the skin the pods looked the same. I would have liked a little something extra here. Perhaps when applied to the implant pod, there would be a more metalic sheen maybe? Or just turn the implant into a skin.

Edited to add:
Had i known that the skin would make the implant pod look the same as a regular skinned pod, I would have used the skin on a different character.
