Follow That Ship

So was thinking about a new gameplay mechanic and thought I should share it. Sometimes when flying around looking for trouble I see a ship that interests me it may have a bounty, or negative security status, or could just be a suspect for a crime. I sometimes try and follow it to see if it leads me towards space riches, but its quite difficult to judge where the ship is heading and usually they will be lost especially if they divert from the main path so it got me to thinking that either a special module or a new ship with the ability to track another ship feeding you with valuable intell on where it is and where it may be going could open new pathes of fun gameplay.
While it could lead to being chased accross the galaxy by a hunter out for blood I thought that a way to then combat this mechanic would be to swap ship which would then mean the trace would be lost it could make for interesting gameplay in my opinion, but i let the wider community to make up their own minds.

This is where player ability comes into play. If you know what you're doing, following someone, even through gates, is relatively easy.

I can follow you anywhere in Eve. (OK, the exception is through a wh route that I don't have scanned. In WH space, it's very easy to lose someone by warping to a wh that don't have pre scanned and pre mapped.) I don't need a module to do it. You need good eyesight, low reflex ability and the proper ship. Oh, you need to practice and put some effort into it.

There are a lot of guys that spend all day trailing targets of interest. It's not just doable, it's done all day every day.

I guess i have much to learn as is always the case it seems :) If anyone knows of a good resource that details the finer points of tracking people i would be much obliged.

*raises hand* i spend most of my in-game time doing exactly this (or do when i have **** to hunt),
http://evedarklord.blogspot.ie/ would have been my first place to point you but i cant seem to connect with it
(sort your **** Feyd!)

key requirements are :
1) quick warping ship , preferably that can fit an expanded probe launcher with a covops cloak.
(think t3d's, astero,exploration frigates)
though anything quick will do, you can trail someone with a shuttle if you are pressed.

2) your tracking camera turned on

3) d-scanfu , get to know that tool, it can be used to hound just as effectively as to hide

4) patience (or severe malice towards the game*)

*this game, you are hunting Blink

everything else comes with time, motivation and practice.
watch were they go, follow ,
try and anticipate where they are going based on where you followed them from,
see if thats where they go,
if you lose sight of them do a narrow scan towards the likely gates (you should know what their ship is called by this point)
if you lose them , chance it and pick a gate.

ill dig around and see if anyone has anything linky wise and come back if i can
