Has there been discussion of crowdsourcing development on clothing?

There is a vocal part of the community that gets their jimmies rustled when CCP spends time on non-spaceshippy things.

Can someone point me in the direction of past threads that have discussed ways to crowdsource and community vote on clothing or command quarters decorations.

Something like the TennoGen system in Warfram, with profit sharing between the devs and player creators, might help fill the void of Incarna space barbie content. CCP wants players involved in shaping the stories of New Eden. It seems logical to involve players in helping shape New Eden fashion (within reason of an IP style guide).

I highly doubt ccp would let an outsider have a lookin at that engine, i imagine it would be akin to inviting a stranger to poke around under your bed,

deeply and shamefully embarasing with sexual overtones and stressfull for everone.

If new DUST will not have anything like a customizable characters, It would completely fall behind on the start for a lot of FTP crowd.

I mean actual character faces you can shape.

But I like when the community gets their jimmies rustled Sad

To answer your question Eve search may be helpful but I would be against crowdsourcing or funding for in game ideas (for the obvious reason that large alliances would dictate the game's look) but I support funding for ccp approved eve merchandise like posters, ship models, etc.

Also the community gets mad at every change so don't worry about them. They've been looking for a reason to leave the first day they started, just ask for their stuff politely.

As a long time Dust player, character creation for social clones might make sense, but you don't fight with your special snowflake clone (I also like the faceless aspect of the Dust forums). In Dust and the lore discussion for Project Nova people fight in mass produced war clone built only for the task of surviving and killing.

As for customization/monetization in Project Nova I'd personally love to see shared player spaces that can be decorated by the corp or even invaded by rival corps.

As for other free to play games Nova would be competing against on PC, Warframe, really seems to exceed in terms of cosmetic customization.

The voting system wouldn't necessarily determine what gets approved, but I can see the pitfalls of designs getting passed over that do or do not get lots of votes.

There's also interesting aspects to the rival alliance meta that would crop up if players make money from purchases. (Le Mittani 2.0: The Yacht Fashion Line. A multi-dollar pixel fabric empire!).

It was because of console limitations. That was the reason to cripple the lore somewhat. With the next generation engine and a new platform, why stay with it being crippled?
Why not take advantage? Genes could be applied for any clone. Helmets could have a transparent visors, or not be mandatory.

CCP, give us reasons to buy Aurum.

There was some sort of comms round table a while back with a few devs/CSM/RP people related to apparel. Sorry I don't have the link to hand, but maybe someone who was there will pop in and post it (there were some GDers involved). The tl;dr seemed to be that there were (at the time) a lot of designed assets that were unreleased - there's been tons subsequently added to the Nes and it seems to be seeded with new gear at a reasonable pace now. A couple of player suggested designs came out of it, like stockings/tights I think. Also there are only a couple of devs involved with this afaik and it's a side project for them.

Bit of an ongoing discussion since there are people like T'amber designing ship skins etc. There was some sort of IP discussion (maybe a roundtable at FF) that I haven't caught yet - might be worth a rummage through youtube to see if it was recorded. If you don't get any pointers here you could also poke T'amber or Rixx Javix - there's a few people floating about with an interest in creating eve related assets, and those are likely to be reasonably versed in where things stand.

Another option might be to request the chance to participate in a design competition for apparel? Seems like there's been a few competitions like this recently, might be worth asking. If creating a formal player submitted design process is too much work the odd competition would plug the gap slightly.

There are several market entries for clothing items which have never been released to the NES, or the known universe. They might be lurking in one of those sites which have been in the game for 13 years without ever being found. They are on Sisi if you want to play around with them.
Probably several of them are being held in reserve for more events.
