Corporation Money for Assisting Newbies

This was just an idea that I happened to throw out to my fellow Corporation members regarding ways to encourage corporations to take up newbies - or at least to soften the impact of having to equip and train new players. It is hoped that, were this to be taken up or at least modified, it would encourage less-wealthy corporations to assist the new players that CCP are hoping to attract to the game.

The idea is simple:

  • Once a new player pays their first month's subscription/PLEXes for the first time, the corporation that the new player belongs to gets some ISK and/or equipment so that they can assist that new player, and help them to develop over time.

  • As with most ideas of this nature, there are a number of potential ways that this could be exploited (and would be exploited) by the players of EVE. Just for one example, inviting newcomers to your Corp and as soon as you have their development money, kick them from the corp.

I do believe that CCP could manage to create a system like this that would prevent or limit how much the newbies can be exploited, and that would allow smaller and less well-funded corporations to bring newbies into the fold, and to be paid for their time and effort in training them and teaching them how to play the game effectively.

I dont mean to put a downer on corps that help new players but helping out new players shouldnt involve giving them stuff all the time, ok maybe a ship for mining or mission running sure i can understand that but anything further should be in the form of advice. If corps want to pursue that further and keep giving their members ships then they need to restructure their corp to have an industrial backing of something, either through weekly mining ops where the minerals can be used to build new ships and modules. They can also point those new players to the start up missions which give them free ships and modules too, however one of those missions also blows up one of the ships so its best to take a noob ship in for that one.

If you keep on giving to said players that will lead them to think that they should be given anything they want and doesnt help teach them an important lesson which can be used in real life too. That lesson isthe ability to be self sufficient and how to handle things themselves.

Your idea of training and equipping new players does nothing to help them survive and find their place in the game.

What new players in EVE first and foremost must learn is that ISK and material/toys do not grow on trees like in a land of cockaigne; they need to be earned.
If a system was implemented that makes new players come to the conclusion that they can just do anything and the game takes care of their fallout without them suffering from any repercussions or consequences, the principles of the game itself are in danger. Instead of making new players come to this conclusion with systems like your suggestion, new players instead ought to be trained and taught to value what is given to them and to see what kind of effort is put into providing them with "free" toys. This way, they will later actually be able to contribute to the game and not just turn into another whiny moron demanding arenas or other garbage because the game is too hard for them or because they cannot find insta action in their backwater high sec system where they are the only resident.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

I read this and see the future demise of the human race. The end is approaching.

Everybody gets a trophy, even the organizers!
    Unsupported.

The only reward corporations should get from bring in newbies is helping mold that newbie into a role that the newbie enjoys and supports the corp, the former being the most important. People that are happy doing what they are doing and happy that what they are doing is helping should be the focus of recruiting someone new and promisingly eager.

Find a good person, and help can work in both directions, and loyalty the same. Food stamps should not be the incentive to hire, sharing how fun the game is and can be should be all the reason a corp needs.

Get some Eve. Make it yours.

We have enough corps exploiting noobs for isk or inviting noobs into their corp whilst having no clue about the game themselves. We should be trying to get noobs into corps that give a crap and know what they are doing rather than any crap corp and especially not ones who do it for rewards or to skim corp tax from them whilst teaching them nothing.

Why propose a system that gives rewards to the corp rather than the noob themselves? Is this even necessary? Tutorials give quite good hand outs and a decent amount of isk. What more rewards were you thinking of?
