Improving First Impressions by re-centralizing the starter systems

Today's EVE starter systems are largely vacant places, skipped over by established players who have little reason to go out of their way to visit them. When compared with Kisogo during Eve's time of peak growth, new players start in utterly dead systems. Quiet space does not make a solid first impression. It's time to breathe life into the starter systems.

Only two changes need to be made to improve the first impression for new players. Reduce the number of starting systems from twelve to four (one for each empire) and (re)connect those starting systems to the major trade lanes. When local is busy, there's constant communication between new players and players passing through. Nothing creates a sense of wonder quite like a living, breathing world of real players doing real things.

Pretty sure the point is to get new players out of the starter systems and into actually playing the game.

When the rest of the world's traffic is passing through, would you not expect new players to be swept up in the current?

So if the rest of the Worl's traffic is passing through, then are the starter systems vacant, or not vacant?

Those seem like sort of exclusive situations. Vacant if no one is passing through. Not vacant if the World's traffic is passing through.

So if they are vacant, then refer back to Iain's comment and if they are not vacant, then what's the point of the thread again?

The point is that if the starter systems are actually part of the game, the new characters are more likely to move into and become a part of the larger universe, instead of withering and being lost within the walled gardens those systems are today.
