You could just nut up and learn how to live in this environment also... you know, just a suggestion.

With the changes to the watchlist the beary bears are safer than they've ever been.

Yes, larger merc alliances are deccing more groups, mainly because they require a target rich environment in order to survive now that hunting targets has become more difficult.

No longer being able to tell which of your potential targets is actually online has rendered locator agents effectively useless.
What this means is that war deccers have to either send out swarms of alts to scour space for active targets (for hours with no result all too often) or mass declare and camp out the trade hubs and pipes.

And then there is the other option, which is to gather serious intel on a potential target and then get very very personal with an extended war with them. Judging from the content so far in this thread I have a feeling you'll become familiar with how this works soon enough.

Yes, the mechanic is broken, but not in the way you think.
If anything wars are far too expensive and too easy for the defender to render pointless as they stand.

Do some learning, listen to some advice and maybe tone it down a notch?
Oh, and for the love of Bob stop with the 'Save the children!' garbage... that crap was supposed to end with skill injectors.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

What you did was make us stronger. Thank you. :)
At least now I know who hired the mercs for future reference. :)

You think I hired mercs on you? How sweet...P

OP I was wardecced for the first 6 months of my eve life.

Want to know what I did?

I spent time training ewar to assist the corp I was in, helped lock down the agressors. We fought, lost some, won some. It was the absolute best of times. Learning from mistakes, honing some semblance of tactics and skills. Skills that have stood me in good stead ever since.

Wardecs just sort the wheat from the chaff. Those capable of handling eve and all the hostility it has to offer stay. Those that whine leave and eve is a better place for it.

I think that the changes to the watch list was a very good thing, but it should go further and do what Herzog suggested and tie war dec possibility to those that have a POS, a Citadel or one of the new structure types when they come out or own space in 0.0. All of those have value and will require a certain attitude and development to defend and enable people to build up to risking it. I would hope that the game play will become more engaging and not pointless as you say, its pointless to those that are war decc'd.

I think you might want to look at who this OP really is, hint, My Little Ponies of the Apocalypse... ShockedEvilTwisted

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

I agree (well, not about the watchlist changes - there needs to be some sort of compensatory buff to locator agents to help bounty hunters and mercenaries actually know if their prey is online), wars should be tied to Citadels or other structures in the future. I'd go further and just put all corporation benefits, including taxes and the ability to declare wars, into those structures and then make wars only possible against structure-owning corps and be done with it. You have effectively created two tiers of corps - those with structures (real corps) and those without (social corps) - and hopefully put an end to these never-ending complaints about how unfair an open-world, competitive PvP game is despite the fact that this is suppose to be how it works. You do not get to PvE and do industry in safety from the other players by fundamental design, whether you are new or just don't want to fight. Providing for your defense against the other players is mandatory and is what this game is all about.

Well I do love me a good thread about wardecs, this one is probably ill-timed. Citadels, particularly their 7-day unanchoring timer, are about to change the face of wars. No longer will structure-owning corporations be able to dodge wars at no cost. That alone may put some meaning into wars and at least give the option for aggressors who want a fight to force one over a citadel by targeting these structures. I imagine, in the next few days we will learn more of additional upcoming structures which will also provide new things for corporations to fight over.

I can assure you OP that none of these upcoming structures will include the ability for new players to use them with impunity however. This is a sandbox game, and players fighting over things in a shared universe is the central focus of all game play, even if CCP messes up the implementation from time-to-time.

I kind of think it's going that way, this "two-tier" approach.

Recall from a while back the floated concept of "corpless corps", basically a kind of association but not a corp. Not deccable but going so far as having some kind of communications backbone.
Since that idea didn't have people shooting the monument and biomassing it's evidently not so unwanted or unpopular.

So the comparison will reach a level whereby I could say right now that I'm a CEO of my own company in RL (I'm not) but I can say I am, and then people can say "OK where's the office? Where's your business license? Do you have employees?" I know my fair share of people who actually have an Inc or LLC but only on paper. But that's all they have. No assets, nothing coming in, nothing going out.

I think a two tier system will look like this. Low level associations or corps by name only and actual corps with holdings and assets that can be decced and can dec. This would let noobs have their free associations and fly together as they develop wealth without being harvested by the "nothing better to do" crowd.

Hopefully it goes this way. I would be in favor of it.

I feel the same about war dec, why I'm fighting ganker right now I have a longer running plan , to offer assistance to corp under these pointless war decs, give them tips and combat help. I feel corporations should be a place to band together to fight for, weather you win or lose, pilots will come out of it better players .

Seen so many corps where there membership never see each other, spreading themselves across eve, how's that working together, the head of the space monkeys alliances has the right idea, people should listen to his speech when thinking about forming a Corp.

If you can look up some of my old post or free free to chat in game anytime, I'm in uk time zone so eve -1

OP you have been playing actively for three months and think you know how to be a CEO? That's your main problem right there.

You may have 50 mil SP but you don't have the skills yet to run a corp successfully. If you had spent three months studying finance and someone gave you $50 million do you think you would do well in the international banking market? You'd lose your shirt in less than a week. You are effectively a Mom & Pop operation competing against ruthless corporations in a marketplace where there are, effectively, no laws.

How many people do you know in Eve? You have to network, find information, listen to what's going on. Is your corp part of an alliance? If not, why not? Do some research, read threads, talk to people.

However, I don't believe you want advice, you just want to rant; this is prohibited and so you are trolling and I am requesting that this thread be closed for that reason.

So this is a PVP game, advertised as such everywhere, impossible to miss the fact. And people try to use whatever game mechanics are available to them, to get PVP.

If you want to talk about the war declaration mechanic from a PVP balance point of view, whether it affects the outcome of the fights or not, go right ahead. But avoiding PVP isn't really in the spirit of this game, which is why you're being flamed.

Finally, themepark MMO's have a built-in promise that your subscription guarantees success, at least in terms of reaching top level and getting the starter gear for PVE or PVP. Sandbox games don't have that promise; your play experience is entirely affected by other players, and you can certainly log in and be killed repeatedly on day 1, and/or be blocked from joining whatever corps you apply to because reasons. Until you leave.

The devs could make some change to the war dec mechanic, but it's probably faster and more effective if YOU deal with the problem yourself - join one of the PVE alliances that have been created by other players and made huge in order to make war declarations too expensive, or shop/fly in a quieter area of space, or move to null or wormholes, or any of the other suggestions in this thread.

OP

As a fairly newbro myself, i must say i do not agree with you.

Sure the wardecs is a nuisance at times, but they will also give 'meaning' to what you do. From my own experience as a new player, you wish for "easy" at first, but this gets dull rather fast.

As the CEO of your corp, you'r goal should be to make sure you can operate in a hostile environment.

- If you mine, make sure you have good communication, and spies out to keep it safe.

- If you need to haul stuff, make sure people work together, scout ahead, and support each other.

- If the area you are based in get to hot, arrange moving-operations to a better system.

Not only will stuff like this teach the newbros in your corp to thrive in eve, but the more stuff you do together, the closer you will get. You'r corp will soon operate as a close knit machine witch will be able to operate and make isk in any part of New Eden.

Remember, at the end of the day, it's not the isk that make the game worth playing, but the people you make it with.

Hello,

I made a similar discussion some days ago about the same topic.

They closed it saying substantially that CCP developers are happy how things are and they don't plan to change anything....

I would say they should listen when many players, in particular new ones ask for changes about abused game mechanics...

Edit:

But hey yes, I forgot...they care much about introducing crappy ( in my opinion ) "daily quests....", if they can be called like that...

important things first....

I've seen a lot of this in game and out. And I think this might provide some insight. They key point here:
Quote:
In fact, the strategy, which developed in small-scale societies, may be less successful in highly developed and complex societies—"that's when overconfidence starts to go wrong," he said.

How many times have we seen people come in and say "I was a guild leader in X game" or "i've been gaming for years so i know games". Then they start a corp a few days/weeks/months into EVE, get absolutely gobsmacked (because leading a succesful corp in EVE is NOT like getting a few guys together to do a dungeon in some other game) then run to the forums to proclaim that the game mechanics they ignorantly fell afoul of are bad and should be changed for the good of the new players (oddly never themselves lol).
