iif you undock from a station you are taking risk i dont care how you try to justify it or try to dum down the risk

Quote:
It's more reward for the same risk that anyone who lives in null/ low sec is already taking

the people who currently live there will be rewarded to stay the people who carebear in high sec will be rewarded to take risk to visit its simple

Quote:
Please find a non-carebear reason to actually do this. The greatest advantage is going to be to NUll-bear sov owners/ renters, who will not be taking any extra risks at all.

this is asking people take risk obvoiusly not carebear! people who are sov owners and all thad good stuff are taking risk for how ever long they have been in 0.0 now i perpose they get extra skill rewards cuz it makes sence there risk taking toons are more attune to the harshness of life in eve thus making them mush more lerned than say your carebare toons!

i win again!

If you are trolling, then yes you got me. Fair play mate.

If serious, then nope, you just continue failing to see how poorly balanced this idea is and how easily it will be exploited to little benefit to PvP.

i can bring a horse to water but i cant make it drink!!!

this being said this opertunity is adding reward yes, is it adding pvp? well that depends im adding the potential to create pvp but if you cloakis insist be so skillrd at hide then fine you did well to get bonus and avoid pvp but this is not my main intention to this this was just a perk

the main thing is this is designed to perswade people to recruit the new guy help him grow to be usefull fast sale eve to people sho dont know what eve is to make more fun with potential risk

i cant make it more simple than this.
the mechanic is easy to imlement and it makes sence to reward the players who play more and play harder

a new quote from me, play hard and more or go home!

i am try to rank the risk people take and reward them more for what level of ranking they play.

maybe i toss out the system and reward players for kill mails
high sec kill mails gain you a 10% bonus to skill training for 24 hours
low sec kill mails gain you a 20% bonus for 24 hours
and so on????
but this not help the new players just rewards the old and experienced

I'm all for helping out the new player. But at which point do you draw the line? Unlike almost every other "level" based game, in Eve new players can very quickly have a role in PvP. They can (and do) take on older players and win. You won't see this in most level based games. Those who sign up looking for PvP will find it, those willing to actually learn the player skills will be successful at it. Player skills have nothing to do with SP.

The skill system in Eve is about as fair as it gets imho. Everyone trains at a set rate (with implants being the reward for grinding ISK if you have the time). It neither rewards those with excessive playtime, or penalises those with limited playtime. SP boosting is a step towards the *insert name of popular fantasy mmo here* type of level grinding, something I hate about that type of game and one of the main reasons I don't play it.

I don't feel that Eve needs activity-based skill learning, and certainly not in a fashion that would lend itself to exploitation. We are unlikely to ever agree on this tbh.

true true but look at all these new players who say they want fly titans they want fly hulks they want to fly jump freighters they want to be trade tycoons and much more and your thier mentor going slow your role man just learn to shoot a gun or scout. they feel very small and like they dont contribute. they may they may not but players by default newer players mostly in this case are the ones that train all over the skill tree making them master of none and good at none lol!!!

faster traing lets then skill all over thier skill tree faster letting them get in the frey faster. its simple new players need faster and not only faster but alot faster to even attempt to overcome this complex learning curve and to harsh the grief of lost ships and equipment and no good isk making skills yet.

What your saying is that you want new people brought into the game through faster skill time. First of all lets address the different trains of thought that led up to this thread.

You - It takes 22 years to get a perfect character, HOLY **** thats a long time. This will drive everyone away from the game.

Me (most everyone else) - It takes 22 years to perfectly skill everything, HOLY **** thats awesome, it means that there will always be something new to explore!

And before you go saying that its intimidating, its not. The fact of the matter is that one of the primary reasons I was drawn to the game was because it was impossible to max out everything. Every other MMO I've played I have quit if the Dev's sped up the training times and lowers level requirements. It takes the fun out of the game. So to sum this up, I say its the journey more than the destination that counts.

And 15 years is still a long time, most people won't care if its 22 year or 15, they will think that it's a very long time and quit anyway.

MMOs come and go, but Eve remains.  -Garresh-

not sure if your making a statement or if your explaining a pro or con to the post but i agree with you fully i see 22 years to max a toon is beautiful! you ask a wow type of player he say f that mess!!!!

just to note there are 14,000 subscribers still paying for thier accounts on eve there 9 million active subscribers on wow! you and i think alike about eve but we are the rare breed! most players in mmo gaming comunity will tell eve to jump off a cliff!

speeding up the training with the number i use will be noticeable but still very long
example at max your training a 40 hour skill and now you take your max implants and remaped attributes to 0.0 for mor max effeciency your skill will still take 30 hours. this is if your crazy enough to take your +5 implants in 0.0 past all your war targets and gate camps on the way you will now save 10 hours off your 40 hour skill.
or set that to days you save 10 days but still have to train for 30 days in 0.0 in +5s will you survive that long?

is it worth it to you to lose your toon in 0.0 for 30 days sitting in cov ops ship?

if you already live there with your corp or alliance the threat is less and you have more freedom make isk but your still putting your +5 implants at risk for 30 days! will you go on roams with your corp or alliance in these implants? maybe but i hope you have the sences to hop in your +3s and while you are in your +3 implants going on roams you have miners in high sec in +5s lol at you cuz now they are out skilling you and your at much greater risk of loss on roam than that miner shooting rocks.

thus i suggest a risk ranking system because you play hard its only logical you learn more from your experiences so you bonus more than that miner not much but still more

It does not add to PvP, risk adverse people are not going to take risks, they will just find a way to circumvent those risks. New players are less likely to be able to use this to great benefit, unless it's new players who aren't risk adverse. In that case the only "extra" PvP is going to be a few more newbies getting ganked by a gate camp......great addition to challenging PvP right there

NULLBEAR, lol drop the bear off it you newb, you sound like a fool saying nullbear, they are called NULLEERS!

undocking is a risk for all players no matter when or where or why or how. you undock you can die so the risk is there.
the risk is greater for anyone and everyone no matter you allegance or status with locals. there is constant roamers and assults in null sec. if your alone in null sec in your cloaky, you can still threaten that pilot in that large alliance! the risk is greater for visitors but the home team has to rais the alert level when they see neutrals or reds.

join a corp and take some risk you will have more fin in eve and spectators will see eve for what it is and want to try it.
no one joins eve because they see you in a mine ship shooting rocks while you read books.

if you are in npc corp and in high sec you contribute to the end of eve.
if your a risk taker you will stay longer attract more players to eve.

this is EVE= everyone vs everyone not IVR= individuals vs rocks

What do you mean by a perfect character? A character that has every skill available in the game trained to lvl 5?

You don't need every skill in the game to be good. It is enought with the skill that matches what you are playing. And getting every skill in the game to level 5 should not be a grind, it should be a dedication.

Take for instance this one dude I read about the other day. He has managed to get every game ever to be released on a Playstation 2. And all of them are sealed.

That is the sort of dedication one should show when going for all the skills, don't caring for how long time it will take, or how mutch money it will cost.

Thankfully though you won't be needing every skill to be good. Just having the ones that matter is enough.

i agree with you on last post all 5s toon is not nessesary but how many 5 are required?
i have over 90 level 5s and i feel very comforatable with my 5s because what is not 5 in my list is level 4 hehe so you cant get much better than that.
i been skilling almost peek efficiency since day 1 for more than 6 years and i still need a few more 5s to be happy
so i assume 7 years of play i will be done i can retire the training and make some alts more efficient....
so at 7 years you can do most things well and a few perfect.
7 years is a long time to ask a new player that is struggleing with eves learning curve and try to addapt to eves losses.
many gamers come to eve and after a few losses they go away cuz they have the wow mentality i wanna keep what i earn even if i die!
this is a dynamic that most of us eve players like but most gamers dont like it.
to take the edge off the complexities and the agervating losses in eve i suggest allowing the new players more skill faster so they can feel usefull and in turn they can enjoy the fruits not rely on hand me downs or quit.

eve is a slow paced game.
where else does it take 7 years to get a very handy toon or 22 years a perfect toon?
wow and every other game you can create perfection in less than month....
i say this attempt to help all but more so the new guys.

i welcome that new player to couple months later hop in same ship as me with simular mods and whoop my 7 year old butt cuz he has twitch and he has the man dangleies to pull it off.
