Racial Missile Types.

Idea simple, execution complicated.

Bottom line give every race a type of missile they work best
Then remake or make new ships that speciifcally uses the missile tatcic.
Retain racial damage bonuses the four races currently enjoy.

Smartfire missiles = Caldari (currently any 'guided muntion') These are smart warheads with controlled explosions they dont fire as fast as they require to be programmed with every launch.
Already existing in the game, cruise missiles, heavy missiles, light missiles.

Dumbfire Missiles = Amarr (any 'unguided miuntion') are wreckeless and have uncontrolled explosions, all the space normally eaten up by the computer in smartfire missile is repalced with more explosive.
Already existing in the game as torpedos, rockets, and hams.

Now the other two types

Minmatar will get as it fits in thier you may cripple me but i am still going to kill you mentaltiy

Improved F.O.F.s
Unlike previous F.O.Fs these missile will prioritize the nearest target painted target instead.
If there is no target painter then the missile goes into F.o.F Mode. Will stop firing if laser lock is lost but reactivating before laser is aquired will FoF mode it.
if the target being painted is beyond the painters optimal range the F.o.F cannot obtain a lock onto it and will revert to default FoF behavior.
These replace standard FoFs entirely.
Will require new speicif launchers.
May have room for 'classic fofs' that fit in any launcher for its size.
In thoery you can hit yourself with these missiles if yourself is painted and would welcome such a flaw in this launch system.


Then the Gallente will get a new type called Fire and Forget (FaF) Missiles
Fire and forget semi function like bombs in that they can only be fired in a forward direction.
Once seperated theyll seek out the nearest target.
They are hyper fast, eats up alot of room in the magazine, decent range, do alot of damage rely on explosion radius the most, and don't complain bout targets infront of them so they can potentially hit friendlies and even will target drones.
They also have a bad turn rate so that the missile has a limited firing cone in front of it.
Will require new launchers.
Serves best as chase armament against targets of the same size as the missile being launched.
Can be used as a bombarding weapon as well provided no unintended target gets inbetween bombarder and bombarded.

This is a new type, BPOs of all sizes to be seeded, Sperntis will drop faction variants and will be using these missiles agianst players.

No. I find the idea of racial weapons in Eve pretty bad. When we look at it from the fiction point of view, it makes sense Empires to take good stuff from others and incorporate it in their own designs, am I right?

Each missile damage type is supposed to be for each race. It's like drones, but simple. Check the descriptions. As for unguided, each ship-class has a guided and unguided missile type already. Want them to be more unguided? We have those too. They are called bombs.

this idea amuses me and i half like it your ideas need some refining and what but the proble with this all ships will have to be fitted with 1 more buff as i would see the mechanics its not unballance much but it does not have enough fluf and thought.

amarr according to fluff and history favor missiles least so i would say that maybe they get the foward firing missiles but tell us how you perpose this mechanic to take place?

all amarr missiles fire foward or they have a race specific launcer that gets larger bonuses when applyed to amarr ships and it only funtions in foward arc?
will it be a foward arc or will it be a straight shot like bomb?

love the minmitar FOF missile launcer idea gets a boost if painted this i would like to see implemented to the missile not as race or launcer but in fof descriftion saying any painted target boost the fof damage output by 50% this would make the fof about 25% stronger than the regular missiles but only to the painted target but the target should be within the painters optimal range if outside optimal range the missile acts normaly!!!

Hmm true I should have sat down and thought more about it.

Okay as with guns all the missile launchers are not restricted to race. I would however need the improved FoFs to get their own launchers though to be fair and the FnFs would have thiers as well.

It will be that certain races will get a bonus twoards the missiles types increasing damage or performance of the type. Damage type bonuses will also still retain to each race which is one more thing I need to consider what bonus would be most at home on each ship but I realize that most choose the RoF bonus and rarely damage.

Reason why I picked FnFs for the Gallente was for the blasters and in your face ordeal. They would serve best as chase armaments though when chasing after something going the same speed but it could be used as a bombardment type deal on the larger ships where pilots would point thier ship at the targets and let the missile reels rip.

Fire and forgets are limited arc in front of the ships direction in movement and in all respect to what the game server sees the foward of the ship. Training skills I can see increasing the cone size which tatical would love to show you however I fear this would screw up with formation flying.

Its true bombs do something similar but they are 15s fuse and one shot go. FnFs are much longer ranged verses thier counterparts and much faster to hit targets and designed to hit fast targets as well. So being smaller than the intended target size of the FnF will save you alot of damage (FnF Cruise missile would do laughable damage to a tech 1 frigate possibly) But a nanomachriel will not escape the FnFs wrath.

I do love the idea that if the target is not within optimal of the painter the missiles revert to fof standard. Would like to see some ships get painter range bonus as well.

Also Amarr are already deligated to being the 'unguided' aka dumbfire missile experts via tech 2 ships they have.

True alot of ships could or must be redesigned to accomidate the new types even later specific missile boats could be made as well for races that dont have them yet.
