Ice and Compressed Ore in Hi sec with Citadels

Hi all

I'm a bit confused about the new citadel stuff and the removal of poses. I mine Ice and ore in hi-sec, I refine the Ice and send the mats it to Jita and mine ore, compress it and send that to Jita. Both processes are done in a POS.

When citadels are introduced as far as I can tell a small miner like myself won't use one, I like to mine not spend 7 days guarding a structure from anyone who can pay 50 million to war dec me and most small mining corps will be the same.

So I have a few questions:

If citadels aren't for everyone what happens to the isogen markets? With a reduced need for structure fuel and jump fatigue having already dropped the demand, will the markets collapse to a point where Ice mining becomes pointless?

Similarly what will happen to the supply of compressed ore in hi-sec? With poses removed I won't be able to compress ore and will have to refine in an NPC station then ship the minerals to Jita to sell. Will that market just vanish and how ill it affect the null sec manufacturers who are supplied from Jita?

There was a problem posting this and I had a timer before I could repost and have managed to answer one of the questions. If null indies are having to buy straight minerals from Jita there will need to be a lot more hauling therefor JF's will be using more fuel. Smile

p.s. I'll get some of the answers in first: quit, move to null, join an alliance, quit, give me all your stuff, leave hi, stop mining etc, quit, etc. lol

if you have a citadel in hs, even if your vulernability window is open, you still need a war dec to be attacked without concord. So it would be rather easy for you to not have to baby sit untill you got war dec'd.

If you want to use a citadel, then join a corp and you won;t have to worry about the defense. Plus you will pay less in taxes

A medium citadel will cost about the same as a fully fit tower does atm.

Towers won;t go away for a while, so you have time to keep using your current pos.

Rules of supply and demand. The price will fluctuate base don demand and either rise or fall. So who knows untill pos' are gone, but thats not gonna happen for a while. In theory as more citadels go up and pos' exist the price will rise. Which would make you want to mine more.

Most of this you won;t find any answers to untill they are released.

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

Citadels are not POS replacements. Citadels are primarily offices, and the most secure of the new structures.

The new industry structures, have not yet been announced, but are expected in the fall.

Also note that the vulnerability period of a citadel (6 hours for a large) can be spread across a week.

a war declaration is still needed to shoot a structure in high-security space
