You were doing so well and then you screwed the pooch.

Ahahaha ... poor choice of words, I admit. Point still stands: gankers gank for a reason, the reason being profit. Now unless you charge haulers a protection fee, what does the Anti-Pirat get out of it?

Pretty much the same things that PvPers and lol-gankers get; *****, giggles, and warm fuzzies.

Not everything needs to be "profitable." Sometimes it just has to be fun.

1.st Proposal:

Leave all the options for killrights but set earned killrights per default auf "0isk" and "all available", i.e. opt out instead of opt in.

That would endorse law enforcement in high sec!

I think that many possible killrights are not enforced because they are not public.

2nd, furthermore:
When killing suspects and criminals:
- Award LP
- Increase own security standing
- Increase faction standing (slightly)

That would be consequent role playing in anti-piratery.

PS.
Please note, that the definition of piracy is committing crimes and illegal action. This is defined by what concord and authorities are punishing. Thus, war deccing is not considered as piracy in this terms.

If you shoot legal target, you get the loot while not having your ship blown up so technically, unless you use hella expensive ammo, you can profit.

Has anyone ever ran the number as an anti-pirate of how many of ship X is required to counter gank ship Y before he finish a "standard" gank on ship of type Z?

Like how many Oracles do you need to burn a Talos starting from when he goes blinky if he was not to begin with?

It might be boring as hell as game play tho...

Interesting proposal. I'm all for players taking charge over policing the universe. Bounty system iteration, mercenary marketplace, and a more streamlined way for local "police" to get funding from residents could go a long way towards encouraging this type of Gameplay.

The CSM XI Election are now open until March 25th, 2016. Consider Niko Lorenzio for CSM XI.

CSM matters, your voice matters, your vote matters!

That would require effort, which the AG types seem to be loathe to put into anything other than asking for more mechanics to do what's already possible in the game.

I really don't see the problem with ganking. There are so many players out there who have learned how to avoid getting ganked, be they miners, haulers, freighters, etc. The easiest way to get ganked is to be completely solo and have literally nobody to pick up your back when **** hits the fan, but even then there are plenty of pilots who fly completely solo and still avoid ganks. Why? Because they are informed. They've done their research and have more than likely learned from past experiences. Key phrase: learned from, not cried about. Eve is a tough game. It's SUPPOSED to be tough. Things aren't supposed to be easy because easy is how you devalue things. Hell, you don't even have to be smart to play Eve like so many people think. You just have to have the right attitude. You have to be willing to take a hard fall. You have to have a pair of balls and be willing to get back up, learn from your mistakes, and MAKE yourself safe. Not sit around and wait for CCP to ruin the game for the rest of us because you miss being able to die and respawn with all your stuff like you could in WoW. Gankers are good for Eve. While everyone is breathing in the benefits of space, the gankers come in and make sure that you don't forget to exhale. After that, if you forget to take another breath, that's on you. Eve is virtual Darwinism incarnate. It's survival of the fittest. If you can't, or won't, bounce back, you are weeded out and forgotten about. I understand that may be a difficult concept for some of the people from the entitlement generation to grasp...
