TIME DILATION or TIDI is pure crap. You clam its a selling feature of EVE but its nothing but a short sighted solution to an ever growing issue.

The problem was the servers were puking when it couldn't handle the load imposed on it by large fleet fights. Additional players were exposed to what is know was "The Black Screen of Death" or a slide show, or my personal favorite, you HIC bubble stays on for hours upon hours preventing you from leaving grid.

CCP solution was TIDI but it only solved one half the issue which is their servers puking, but the players are left with a HORRIBLE experience every-time.

While you think TIDI is the ultimate solution its a short sighted solution that only solved your issues and left the players to deal with horrible game play and mechanics.

Typical CCP respond to any issue in game, fix their issues first, tell their players to bad, our code doesn't do what we want to do so suck it up.

The solution that everyone else applies is instancing, with a limitied number of players shielded from each other. I personally would rather suffer with TIDI and still be able to run into every player in the game (outside those on the chinese server ofc). Do you have an suggestion how to avoid TIDI and still keep all players in the same universe? Because it seems like no one else has been able to come up with it.

On topic: I do not understand why CCP keeps hyping these big battles to attract new players? In my opinion it is very counter productive, as people who join due to this are more likely to be disappointed IMO. The big battles happens once annually/ bi-annually (I know this war might be on for some time, but when it is over the faction will lick their wounds for a year or more, if history is any indicator. I am sure this will be annoy people who join EVE and except the big battles are everyday business. And why wouldn't they, from the hype CCP tries to make in the following of this battle.

Big battles *are* happening every day, or thereabouts. Check your pings.

Maybe the servers aren't grinding to a halt every day, but the battles are out there. Most of them will be within jump range of Saranen in Lonetrek - because that's where all the bees and bee-supporters have gone to hide. It requires effort to travel long distances, and due to jump fatigue, the CFC's cap fleet that they don't want to use anyway, can't project very far in order to defend... or not engage... or something. Somehow this all makes sense if you're in the CFC and drink the koolaid

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Wow, just wow. I understand CCPs need to bring in more players, and trying to keep the game running when it is having such a decline of players.

Seriously though, while players can and should choose sides, take stands and get vocal for those sides. WTF is the games Devs doing being so completely biased. If the CFC, or Imperium, has done something against the EULA or some other aspect of their coalition has violated the rules of the game, then proper action should be taken on a Dev level. Otherwise, CCP should keep there noses out of player politics and keep the biased opinions to themselves.

Personally, if I was seeing that kind of talk as a new player or prospective one, I would close the web pages and never look at Eve again. Player politics need to stay at the player level and Devs should only effect the game through balancing and design.

It really seems CCP is desperate to facilitate a war, and hopefully give a reason for players to stay around, being as they are about to drop a huge cap change into the game that most players seem to be against. So shining a spotlight on a player conflict, taking the side of the larger force and spending time touching on areas that they should abstain from, seems more like the actions of a governing body trying to shift the spotlight off the scandal and onto some poor scapegoat.

No matter what side might be right or have cause, player business is player business, and CCP should only highlight conflicts and fight from a completely non-biased stand. Anything else, and it makes the company look like a bunch of pre-teens and is not the image a successful company should take.

increasing numbers of players??? I remember 45-60k online on TQ , now it's only 30-35k... so it's better to say decreasing number of players due to laggs, too slow improvement of game, endless promises from CCP which they didn't met or announce of one thing and implementing absolutely another : )))

Wow that is some ****** paraphrasing...It is pretty clear that he is talking about increasing number of players online on grid at the same time (Which is true), and not the total population. If you had read beyond the comma you would know this. But hell no, lets play pick and paraphrase.... long live selective reading... when put in the context of this sentence:

Thank you. I was literally at a loss for words when I read that.

Well... If you declare unlimited scale of battles then it's your fault that you cannot properly handle it. Either limit size of battles or improve software/hardware support.
Learn from RL: manufacturers always put some limits to their products

Seriously?

Nah, I'm gonna leave that one alone. I need to get ready for work.

Instancing is more than just a separation technique for dealing with larger player groups, it has other functions as well, such as allowing repetitive runs by the same teams over and over again which is something of a 'run on demand' schema... etc. etc.

EVE does not use that paradigm because it is a sandbox. It's a simple concept.

TIDI is the only reasonable way to fiscally do this kind of thing in the environment. Otherwise, CCP would need to build a super computer out of NVidia Titan X boards and enough power to put half of Iceland into a brownout. While maybe that's a little over the top, it is speaking to the processor power required to do it.

So, if any of you have a better idea that can actually be afforded, I'm sure CCP would love to hear it and might even reward you for it.

What I find most interesting about TiDi is that it turns the massive fleet battles into something almost serene to watch. It runs counter to the massive destruction I was expecting.
