Escalations got Nerfed (at least in sansha null sec)

like I said in GD, over the last week i've run 72 heavens, 38 hubs and a bunch of forsaken hubs and forsaken rally points and no escalations whatsoever. few players have also experienced this issue. dear CCP stop being cheap and ninja nerfing all the Isk making activities, we know you want us to buy your PLEX, but this is shameless.

anyone else has noticed the nerf?

In the last 10 days, in Catch, I've had 7 escalations from Sansha anoms (ninja ratting at that, I don't live there). No one nerfed anything, you've just had a string of bad luck.

That's an awful lot of Anomalies to do without getting a single escalation. Definitely wouldn't call it a string of bad luck.

Although unlikely, there is a chance that bad luck like that can happen.

I've pegged the chance at a Haven escalating at 5%, from a pool of 1280 run so far.

Since each site gets its dice roll independently of the next, someone, somewhere will lose the lottery.

Sometimes you can run 15 and get nothing. Next day you only run 5 and get 3 escos.

OP just had unbelievably bad luck seemingly. Angel sites are escalating normally.

my point exactly.

I do a shitload of ratting in a fully upgraded system, with few alts, on a daily basis, i know what i'm saying. 7-10 days ago I stopped getting escalations, b4 I used to get at least 1 or 2 per day from blue rock heavens. also, I happen to have corp mates (with alts) that also rat in the same region and they have also experienced the same issue, so shity luck hit us all at the same time??? in adition to all of the above, haven't seen a WTS Escalation post in my alliance channel in a while where b4 there used to be 1 or 2 everyday.

now, i'm not saying escalations disapeared, but i'm sure as hell they were ninja nerfed. it wouldn't be the first time CCP does that (they do it quite often actually) and you won't find it in the patch notes OC.

Don't know what to tell you. In the exact same period of time I've had more escalations from the same pirate race (Sansha) than I could run, mostly because I am ninja'ing in people's upgraded systems while they sleep. While there is a slim possibility that there may be something wrong with where you are at (things sometimes break like that after a patch) "They must have nerfed me" is just useless paranoia.

I've had 15-17 day stretches of no escalations (across multiple pirate races, and even after CCP upped the escalation chances last year). And afterwards I've had as many as 5 in one day. In fact, last month (in angel space) I had 3 havens escalate back to back to back. The odds of that happening are so slim it's like winning the real life lottery.

Well, you've just won the "reverse lottery" for the last 10 days. If there was an escalation problem, don't you think there would be WAY more of us anom farmers posting about it here and on places like Reddit? All we see is you.

The problem here is that you made the common mistake of getting used to an escalation 'tempo' (ie if I do this many, i will get this many escalations) and when the obvious (and regular) randomness cycle caught up to you, you imagined that someone intentionally did something wrong. They (probably) didn't, you and your mates are most likely just experiencing a huge dry spell, I've experienced the like myself at least once every year since 2009 (again, even after the escalation chance buff). It happens.

You might be right, might be not. Only reason I made this thread was cause someone brought it up in GD and few people concurred. I don’t really believe in coincidence, and what CCP hisyory tells us is that they may very well have ninja nerfed the escalations. Until there’s consensus not real way to know for sure.

Just bad luck.

Or you and your buddies hit an exhaustion point. That is its possible that CCP has ALWAYS had a limit to the awards given out in a particular system or constellation during a given time. Up to that point awards for escalation and loot drops should be normal. maybe your area's growing ratting efforts just out grew the area supply of rewards for the week.

If you fear the possible existence of exhaustion points...GO TO A LESS FARMED AREA OF SPACE. Few people or at least few people doing combat sites or less effort per person.

If nothing else it will shut your trap for a while and let the rest of us focus on what is important -- ourselves. ROFLAMO


Seriously if you can gather data to prove exhaustion points (how many sites done during what cycle time) you will help lots of people.

Assuming an escalation chance of 5%, you have a ~0.5% chance of getting no escalations after running 100 sites. While not a big number in itself, it is still pretty likely that it happens to someone at some point, given how many people are running these sites. OP just happens to be the "lucky" one this patch.

First rule of EVE UI: right click EVERYTHING.
