Potential threats involving high sec mission running

Hey guys ,

Im not to far along from flying a vargur and i was considering runming lvl 4 's in high sec to make isk , im thinking of high sec more then null cause im not really interested in spending alot of time in eve now , specially for pve and dedicating myself to null seems like a waste of space compared to someone who is more dedicated.

Usually i have a decent grasp on my pve knowledge but i do have some questions if your able to help me out.

First off ,im gonna assume a decent tanked vargur ( not necesarly with bling ) wouldnt really have any problems with any lvl 4 mission considering i don't overstack the waves , true ?

Also , i was thinking of maximising my isk / lp income by running the missions in the lesser security systems , but im not sure how relatively safe i'd be ..as in , do people still suicide t3 bc's ? Like you would a catalyst to a miner

Guess my second question is the one im really interested in knowing .

Also anything else you feel like adding , some tips or stuff like that feel free.

Im mostly interested in just making some isk to maybe possibly finance my sub but if not , supporting my pvp is enough

Thanks

Just because i am blond does not make me stoopid !

The most popular high-sec systems still have a scanner and prober on the undock.

You undock in a juicy target (bling fit or simply squishy enough)
The prober gets your ID instantly with the combat scan probes
The scanner checks your fit
a few minutes later, in come the Cats or Nados
Angry local talk spike

Happens a couple times an hour now during normal business hours.

Ways to avoid are easy.

Insta undock BM at your favorite station
Perch BM at the common gates (for the super paranoid)
watch D scan every once in a while at under 5 AU
when said D scan shows Cats or Nados... warp out.

Vargur will be fine even if you stack the waves in almost all missions.

Use Eve Survival to know what to expect in the mission -- look for opportunities to blitz to maximize LP.

You'll be fine in .5 space to maximize LP as long as:

1) You do not attack any ships coming into your pocket to steal your salvage (they are trying to bait you)
2) You do not load up your Vargur with too much bling - 1 or 2 faction/deadspace items are generally okay.

Set standings on any known troublemakers in your system so you know they are there.

If you decide to attack troublemakers in the pocket realize that being neuted is your risk in a Marauder.

right so the tactics are pretty much the same from back when i used to do it . Thanks for the info

What i was most concerned was if i go active bastion that i can get ganke cause i can't warp off .

Also needed to know if people still suicide gank in the mission hubs .

they don't need to use BC's, where im at they use a small group of destroyers and bumping machs, also will steal loot to make you shoot at them, as well as warp in a mission and hit all triggers

Look at killboards for the system. Dotlan is good. MTUs are easily probed.

Same as it has always been.
Find a nice out of the way, quiet little .5 system and take the normal precautions like fast undock bookmarks, watching d-scan and you should be good. But remember if they want you they will get you so there is always a risk.

Bastion is not an extra problem as to gankers. Some people like to make a cap stable fit in case they disconnect while running the site.

In many missions you will not need bastion. You can improve finishing time if you turn off bastion before the rats finish so you're ready to move sooner.

No need to bling fit a Marauder. Thanks to the Bastion module, a simple T2 tank will be more than enough to breeze L4s.

I fell asleep at my computer running L4s due to sheer boredom...

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Atleast it's more interactive then warping from anom to anom.

So have I, several times infact.
as for the op , mission flipping is still a thing, albeit less so but it still happens.

The likelihood of getting ganked in a T2 fit Maurader is rather low. If there is not a good drop for the gankers, they will most likely leave you alone. If they are bored, you will die no matter what, but they would probably go after something easier than a maurader.

I'm sure it's been mentioned but check your operating system's kill boards. It will give you a heads up if anyone has been ganked/killed

Basic MTU are easy to scan down. Named ones have higher sensor strength numbers, so will be a little (Packrat) or a lot (Magpie) harder to scan down. Keep this in mind if you forget one occasionally.

Alt-d once in a while, and keep in instant-dock bookmark on a station in all the systems missions will take you if you're really paranoid. If you pay attention, the gankers won't get you no matter how shiny your fit is.

And the proper wardec precation: instawarp bookmarks on the undock where you usually park, so you can leave if you have to, even if the station is camped.
