if you're trying to sell something to a buyer taxes should be taken out of the money you receive

I think it's super stupid I have to pay 7 million before I can receive 1 billion when you can just take the 7 million out of that

so cannot sell my plex

Can't you sell to a buy order?

If I understand the OP correctly he wants to place a sell order rather than selling to a buy order, if that's the case then there is a real world equivalent, brokerage fees, which are often charged upfront.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I'm selling it directly to somebody that wants to buy it I'm not putting it up for people to buy

If you have an alt you can quickly just send the money to the selling alt.

If this is your only account, just run a few missions 7 Mil is very easy to get.

So you're doing it via contract? If it's a private contract to a specific character the fees should be around the 10,000 isk mark.

If you're doing it as a public contract the fee is calculated as follows: 1% of the price + a brokers fee of 0.4% of the price (can be reduced with the broker relations skill) and a day fee of 0.05% of the price for every day after the first day.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Cant think of a reason not to do this.

Unless you consider it bad that someone who has a negative wallet balance (as a punishment from CCP) would be able to sell their assets to pay off their 'debt'.

Broker fees are there to provide a cost to people sticking silly market orders up. And to encourage people to put stock up at prices that will actually sell, rather than perpetually relisting at non sale prices till they finally sell.
So they are a very important part of the EVE market balances and need to stay as an upfront cost.

Hes not talking about brokers fees. (edit, It actually is brokers fees. But these still apply to 'quick sales', creating the issue below)

Hes talking about how sales tax comes out of your wallet before the money of the sale goes into your wallet. So it creates the bizarre situation where if you dont have the money to pay the sales tax before you sell an item, you can't sell it.

Happened to a friend of mine who got busted for bad plex or something and he couldn't use the market until he ratted. Lots.

I agree it is a good idea.

There's also the risk that the seller won't be able to cover the taxes if they have a sufficiently negative wallet. CCP would have to add that check in addition to swapping the (deduct tax) and (transfer ISK) steps for immediate sells.

Unless you're talking of combining the steps, so the seller always gets paid, but that would make the journal confusing.

You are not reading the OP correctly. He is talking about the tax coming out of the transaction payment. Currently, if you sell a plex for 1B, first thing that happens is 7M is taken out of your wallet and then 1B is put back, but if you haven't got 7M in your wallet the whole thing fails. The change he wants is it simplified to 993M being put into his wallet.
