Don't know if this has been suggested before, but a lot of fleet events and battles use logistics tactics that involve ferrying dozens of hulls to a predetermined spot, assembling them, fitting them and then letting then sit in space for players to use (eg. Australia Day 2016). But players still have to get to the system it's happening, often dozens of jumps away from their usual stomping ground. So I thought: what about a carrier or specialised hauler that can carry other players, a sort of capsuleer troop transport? Just snuggle up to the transport pilot, make a docking request, and as soon as the pilot accepts the request you're scooped up into the pod bay and off the transport goes. Maybe they could even accept direct capsule transfers from citadels?

Just imagine a cyno lighting up and suddenly bam, a troop carrier appears on the scene and the FC says "all right everyone undock and grab a ship" and suddenly pods are pouring out and everyone's boarding ships left and right, taking off in the direction of the fight.

That idea is common in the playerbase. It surfaces from time to time when someone mentions shuttles.

You can clone jump to ship with clone bay, and grab a ship that sits nearby, because you will appear at safespot in the system and warp just right to the ship with clone bay.

I think that'd be nifty.

I've seen this idea and variations proposed at least a dozen times before. It'll never happen, because if it does, EVE will be full of people like me flying those ships, convincing people to board, and taking them hostage / jumping as far away as possible from their destination and abandoning them. Why? Because it's funny.
