Hello all,

This is my first time posting. I am completely new to EVE. back in Nov. 2014 i played some of the trial, other than that I'm totally new.

I just wanted to introduce myself. I am very much looking forward to playing EVE. I've been putting it off because it seems like the type of game that's going to suck me in and take lots of my time.

Since I am new is there any thing I should do first or any advice for a noobie?

Yo,

the social aspect of the game is probably the strongest link to the game itself - find a corporation, alliance or a community that you can thrive in. Start off with newbie-friendly stuff where they can teach you the basics and make you awere of the vastness of this game.

Also, train to the right, not up. Don't get caught up with wanting to immediately focus. Find your niche and change things a bit.

Explore and learn things. Go out and try things, maybe you will like one.

As far as I know, the tutorial doesn't teach you about directional scan. Press alt-D and fool around with it. Knowing how to use this is very important outside hisec, and in hisec if you fly shiny things.

Don't trust anyone with anything you can't afford to lose, including yourself when you're drunk.

Relevant. This isn't a game you can pick up and master in a few hours. You can get the basics of parts of it, but you'll be learning new things for a very long time.

Some basic tips:
- Don't trust anyone, except Chribba
- Don't fly what you can't afford to loose

Collect as much information as possible. Read the forums, use google. There is some good information in this new citizen forum Q and A forum thread. you can follow upcoming changes to EVE here, and changes already implemented here

Try out different parts of EVE, find out what you like and find a player corp that can help you advance in that direction. The social aspect is really what makes EVE interesting.

Don't get attached to your ships, you will loose a lot and it is fine. If someone blows up your ship, don't get angry, find out how he won and get even, or learn how to avoid it next time.

Ships that newer players can fly are mostly pretty cheap with insurance (unless you sell PLEX, inject skill points and fly an expensive ship, then your loss will hurt. So don't do this, and yes even if you are superman you will loose your ship at some point).

Certain Scams are allowed in EVE so know them and don't fall for them

As a fellow newbie I'm perhaps not the best source of advice but when it comes to training I chose to follow this plan to get me started: http://blog.beyondreality.se/Newbie-skill-plan-2

Since the training plan is about 1 month long you have lot's of time to find out what you find fun in EVE and then start focusing more on skills that suit said career path. Since I'm also using EveMon and find it quite user friendly I should also recommend it to enhance your skill training.

Other then all I can say is have fun and fly safe o7.
