If you want to reveal your fit you post it in local. If you want to reveal your location you join fleet.

Not a suggestion. I just wanted to discuss the idea of being able to partly or fully reveal your fit or even your position to the people in local or to juat one specific person that you encounter on a roam.

If you decide to do it, for whatever reason, the opponent would be certain that the information you provided is not a lie.

Realistically what would such a mechanic look like? Would it be a beacon? A message? A link you can post?

u can link your fit the the 2nd party, but as u can save fits, and link thows too what u sent to the 2nd party could be totally not what you have fitted in your ship .. u could then also get him to use ship scanner on you to confirm the fit ...

also u could send the api details where he prolly could get more then your currect fit. with a little delay ofc ..

as per shareing your location ... as the guy abouve said ... fleet ..

or if boht of you are in one for some reason u could bookmark your location fly to some celestial and make a copy of the bookmark into your cargo and jetcan it . tell him the celetial and voila ..

also wasent there something about bookmarks in the api? .. do recall something about shareing bookmarks by drag-dropping em in chat .. in the works that is . or so ..

in conclusion .. all ur asking is allready here or being worked on ..

EVElopedia < add this to your sig to show u WANT it back

Ok yeah posting in local or in a convo, but is it possible to add an element of "this is true, and this is what its like now". ideally you shouldnt have to come up with a good reason to post the fit since its already "normal" for people to reveal their fit in order to increase chances of a fight or baiting somebody into a fight by only revealing a part of your fit.

Yeah fleeting up is interesting, i forgot about that completely. But if i were to encounter somebody on my pvp roam , wouldnt it be strange to be asking for a fleet invite just to reveal him my location within solar system. Also having to ask ask ask, it would eventually get exhausting in the long run, thats why nobody is doing this because its essentially asking for permission to "hey man come out and play, lets be friends". I dont want to invite somebody, i want to intrigue them with real cold facts without all that social stuff and make a big deal out of it, when things get social they get personal

Why should you need this? You either trust the guy is fit the way he says, or not. There are clues to be had, such as does the link match the name of his ship.

If the idea had been realized, it would have been 'normal' is what i meant. I didnt mean its how it is now

The reason why its important to know the information is not a lie is because in this hypothetical scenario we want to eliminate the "entire social aspect" of sharing a fit. This is so that certain information is immediately actionable for you during a roam. If you get personal about sharing a fit and saying "hi wanna duel" or something along those lines, then it becomes something different because you are asking for permiaaion rather than casually releasing bits of information about current status of the solar system.

Directional scan window might be a good candidate for this type of info.

Instead of just seeing a ship type on the directional scanner, you will be able to click on it to see the fit. Or in some cases which direction you can scan to find him (the positional beacon only lasts very short time)

Meh,
certainty is a luxury.
If Jita scammer could have a "this is a legit ISK doubling/tripling/quadripling... scheme" certificate I am sure it would encourage their content aswell.
if you want fair fights for the point of experience, understanding and essential pew pew fun - organize a tournament, go to a test server and write a few bug reports while you are at it.

If you cannot trust corp mates to play fair then you should change corps.
Or organize a tournament within your corp and use an orca full of ships that are all fit the same way. At fight time you have the contestants get a ship out of the orca and go for it. That way there is no chance for someone to change the fit or ammo to gain an advantage.

If you think this idea would balance out any other form of PvP and make it more fair or even I have ocean front property in Colorado for sale shoot me a email for more information about this unique once in a lifetime opportunity.

Another part of me is simply stunned by the continuing stream of ideas that give away free information on you and your ships capabilities. In a fight the less your opponent knows about you and your fit the better it is for you, why would anyone be stupid enough to give it away by using this idea. No one would and so your idea is useless outside of the very narrow set of circumstances that caused you to think of it and that alone is enough to give it a no way.

If you want a tool that lets you see information on the way another persons ship is fitted then you should try the Ship Scanner module, it does exactly what the name suggests.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
