Hi there, fairly simple problem but it's getting annoying. I changed how things are displayed in boxes and now everything seems to want to open in the same one. It's annoying when I'm trying to quickly do something in the Market for instance where when I look at the info for an item it replaces the market display. Then I have to go back to the market tab and start over.

How do I get item information to open in separate display boxes that I can size as I want, that's another issue. For some reason they will only size down so far and take up much more room from the original default size.

Amazing environment - I won't say game because this seems so much more - for an older gamer and science fiction enthusiast going back decades.

escape
general settings
Uncheck "Try to use existing window...."

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Everything is still opening in one window.

I was resizing an info window when this happened and can't seem to figure out what I did and how to go back to the default.

thanks

then the market and the show info opens in the same window?
Juste drag one of the tab (market or info) outside the window to create a separate window for that tab :)

Sounds like you have managed to stack the two windows into one - it happens when you are draggin about unpinned windows sometimes.

How to resolve:

  1. make sure the market window is unpinned
  2. open an info window that you are having a problem with
  3. Click on the info window "tab" and drag it away.

That should stack it and keep it in a separate window for you.

Thanks, it seems simple now that it's explained, but the amount of information being presented here is impressive.

Yeah once you get past the feeling your brain is leaking out of your ears it's actually fairly straight forward (with some ridiculous exceptions )

In my experience about 30% of eve is just getting your head around the various system at play ,
about another 30% is knowing what typical player behaviour is within that given system
Another 30% is stacking the odds in your favour
And the last 10% is doing your level best to look like you do/don't understand all/any of it depending on what you are trying to achieve.

I get what you are saying about "game" seeming somewhat shallow of a title for what eve is but do remember that it very much is,
Often players invest a big heap of time , effort and sometimes Irl cash in the endeavour to achieve something here
only for a group like mine to come along and jump up and down on their sandcastle till there's nothing left but our boot prints where their hopes and dreams once stood.

Around those disheartening times it beat to remind yourself that it is infact a game, just one with stakes, much like poker.

Anyway welcome aboard.

Also, to get Show Info windows to open in separate windows, hold down Shift when you "show info".

It can be a little harsh, I found a nice hemorphorite? deposit and thought I would make a nice profit with my Venture with two light drones for protection. Two hostiles showed up and greed overcame my caution and they blew up my nice free mining vessel before I could warp out.

I'm guessing that won't be the last ship that I lose here.
