So I have been thinking a lot recently about some of the changes thats happening, what with watchlists, jump fatigue and a few other things.

Now a lot of people have complained about watchlists and the loss of intelligence, i think to be honest there needs to be less freely available intel because some of it is just unrealistic anyway.

For example being able to see how many jumps a system as had, or how many people have been killed, or even crazier seeing how many active cynos are up in the entire universe is just a little too much intel, even the how many people are active in a system n the last 30 mins ANYWHERE in the whole eve universe.

That in reality is just not possible information you could attain just like that.

What i am suggesting is still keep that information available but hidden and perhaps more, and that the only way you could get this information (like in reality) is actually hacking into computer systems, or celestials, or stations or eve citadels to gain intel.
Could even be used if we removed local for example, and that by having some system beacon you could hack into gain information on whos in local for example
You may have different beacons or systems to gain certain types of info.

Perhaps add another skillbook called Advanced Hacking, that will allow you like the market skills for example see intel from system to region wide, but certainly not universe wide. Level 5 Hacking would be needed prior

CCP could implement another hacking game like when using exploration but a bit more complicated. Again this information shouldnt be just easily hackable or available.

This would certainly make people work for intel, add more content to the game and another side to it. I think it could be quite enjoyable hacking into systems to gain intelligence.

I understand your reasoning behind this area, but will this mean you need a dedicated hacker somewhere in the system just to observe local? How will this intel be shared/sold?

Come get some cancer @ my blog !

Just like intel is shared now. Through intel channels and third party apps, just like the ones we have now for example the dscan one. Also what CCP could do is allow the maps to show hacked intel only to you alliance and corp mates on the map. I know thats a a little more complicated but as a future feature. and yes you either fly to or have a dedicated hacker. Remember you can train to region wide hacking so you may only need one per region. We have to do it with cyno alts so i would assume you could train those be be hacking alts also.

I'm not sure I'd replace local with this but it could definitely be used for a lot of the other intel. I would suggest a whole new mechanism be implemented for sharing the intel to make it a viable career for anyone in EVE. When hacking for intel assign your hack to an Intel Stream. Said streams can be sold through contracts. The buyer of the contract is the only one able to access the stream for a set duration (1 day, 1 week, or month). All intel gained by hacking is uploaded to one of these streams and the buyer could optionally give additional ISK for good intel.

Careers and reputations could be made by providing solid, reliable intel and people could double-cross by having two intel streams and splitting important information off from their buyer. You would still only trust corp contacts to do the important intel work for fleet movements but if you are trying to hunt a specific player or find some basic info out about an area you go to the market and buy the intel you need.

I buy that as an additional feature, sure. i actually like the idea of making it into a profession as well and selling the info. i do think that that info can only be sold to one person at a time however. that way it allows more people to sell and compete for the same intel or other people have the opportubity to buy it from.another like an intel market

Hack a gate to see who is in local in the next system. (The one the gate jumps to of course)

Definately an interesting concept, i like it. Would add another dimension and could be kinda rewarding actually gaining intel this way.
