Good thing they are actually trying to marry it with EVE lore. Have you played the mini game on sisi? Have you seen the SoE news?

No and yes. No, I have not played the minigame on sisi. Yes, I have seen the SoE news; Project Discovery is being set up as a study of Drifters biology, if I am not mistaken.

The "drifter" lore is an artificial construct that will not disguise the fact that the player is doing a Mechanical Turk task.

I realize the mini-game can be ignored and superficially would seem to have no significant aspect on the real game.

However, this element is a design focus and effort that has nothing to do with the core elements of the game. The mere fact that designers, developers and players are involved in something that, at the end of the day, has nothing to do with EVE is ill-omened.

I could cite other examples and cases where irrelevant, non-EVE-related content has been inserted into the game with various negative effects. Obviously, the lessons from those experiments have not been learned.
