Blocking a player should apply to their entire account. Stop spam.

WOW implemented this idea successfully 10 years ago.

While using WoW as a reference is typically a NoNo, I will agree.

Badposting as much as you do should apply a forum ban to all your accounts.

Why is that a no no? Are you suggesting we should not borrow feature ideas from other games?

ccp said it would be to easy to use as a method of outing alts

As long as the block only applies to local, it should not be easy to use it to ferret alts.

Most players communicate on corp channels or fleet. Do you really spend a lot of time listening to corp mates on local?

"Oh, I can't hear my FC on local. I must have one of his alts blocked. Let me figure out which one of the 300 people I have blocked is my FC." I don't really see that as a likely problem scenario.

Also, I assume serious EVE corps require their members to reveal their alts and verify that by a logon proof, so I would expect most people who run corp spies and stuff like that use a second account for that reason. So, the need for "protecting" spies on the same account I would think would be pretty minor.

This just means of I suspect you of being an alt I can easily test it

This is a difficult stretch.

1) If the system does not provide you with a list of blocked toons, this becomes difficult to determine.
2) This becomes even further difficult to determine if that person is not chatting in local or any other means.

If I think you are an alt of Lugh, I block lugh and see if I can still communicate with you.

The idea is that it only applies to local, so you would have to get the suspect to say something on local when you were in the same system and you would have to get them to talk twice, once before you did the block and once immediately after.

So...what is this intended to actually stop, jita scams or something?

Who looks at jita local?

Traders used to use Jita local before the spam raged out of control.

When? In 2005, when I started playing EvE, Jita local was just like it is now.

Does blocking an entire account help you in any way though?
I mean even CCP encourages people to have at least 2 accounts through special packages...
Starting a trial account takes up to 2 minutes, if I wanna spam local, I can do so in so many ways and forms blocking one toon off does not help, blocking an account won't help that much either.
Does not help me to block out 100 people spamming scams over each other, since they can not be logged on from the same account at the same time... duh.
What you are suggesting is either alt-outing, if you get the list, or undeterministic - if I block him, I have no idea who else I am blocking.
If you are suggesting blocking someone from local only, claiming you don't use local, why do you even care whether someone spamming local is blocked or not? What's the point?
If your fleetmate, potential spy has intentionally made you block his alt in Jita, can he now give away intel on local without you knowing? It's a ridiculous stretch, but targeted mail with 3rd party page promotion could do the trick.

I mean yes, account-wide API check ability pretty much destroys the potential of someone having multiple alts scattered over opposing fronts, unless having multiple accounts. But it's not like everyone has access to it. So there you go, feature in conflict with the game as it is, adapt.

just the one account? What about the other accounts of blocked player?

And yeah, easily exploitable, even if I would strongly appreciate such a feature sometimes its a very bad idea.

It also hurts the roleplay idea, that you can be a scammer, a pirat and a honourable mentor as you wish by your Characters.

By the way: That WoW implemented it 10years ago and Eve not - it should indicate some kind of intention behind it and not incompentence of CCP.

Indeed, people who want to do WoW stuff like "ignoring" an entire account after losing an argument and such should go to WoW to do it. Also features leveling, achievements, 25 man raids, up to 25 daily quests, raid finder... and much more purple loot than in EVE. I do not understand what are we still doing here... unless the grind is not what we want.

I have a better feature idea Droidster and the best part is that CCP does not have to waste dev time on a useless feature.

Wait for it.

IGNORE LOCAL.

There problem solved and no dev time needed.
