Thukker Tribe Pirate Faction ships

The only 2 races that dont have their skills joined together in one pirate faction ship, are the minmatar and the Caldari, and as a reddit user named LangbardVafud describes here the Thukker Tribe fits so well into this Caldari/Minmatar lore.

Anyway, to the ship itself. it would be a Shield tanked, relatively (to caldari ships) speedy, Hybrid bonused ship. Its speed and raw damage would be comparable to Angel Cartel ships, but a bit lower. Stats and bonuses bonuses should be similar, but the slot layout will be shield tank oriented and trade a low slot for an extra mid.

Skill Bonuses:

* Minmatar Skill: hybrid turret damage percentage per level (or mwd sig bloom reduction percentage)

* Caldari Skill: hybrid turret optimal range percentage per level

Hull Bonus:

* Hybrid Turret damage bonus (variable, depending on hull size. should be lower then the serpentis damage modifier and probably put the ship in a comparable, but a little bit lower, damage potential when compared to angel ships)

* 500% to ship velocity when using cloaking devices, greatly reduced targeting penalties when the module is used/fitted.

* 50% reduction in mwd signature bloom. (if this wont be included in the skill based bonuses)

* ability to MJD while cloaked for battleships.

About the hull bonuses:

I included the damage bonus in the hull to allow for a lower number of turret hardpoints, while keeping the effective turrets on the ship high in order to keep the hull competitive in terms of damage with the other pirate ship platforms, while not butchering the ship capacitor performance.

The second bonus i added is kind of interesting. after all, pirate ships are known to break the rules in some way. i think that making them full covops is an option but i feel it would be a bit too OP (and besides, there is already a covops pirate ship line), but adding these set of bonuses allows them to break the rules in a new and interesting way (you go faster when cloaked, and even faster when you bling your mods), without being completely ridiculous. After all, the Thukkers are all about cloaky (and jumpy) stuff. Alternatively, the dedicated cloak slot could be used as a utility high.

Initially when i was still writing this i was thinking about giving it web range bonuses, or tracking bonuses, but due to its more long range oriented nature this doesnt really make sense, and would probably be OP. especially when a cheap faction web + links can reach more than 20 km. (also, Morachas)

what are your thoughts about the bonuses? i initially included percentages but i know close to nothing about balancing ships, so instead i typed the general idea when comparing it to other Pirate faction ships

well, kind of... as far as i know they kind of keep to themselves out there in the great wildlands.
so it wouldnt be a surprise to discover 3 secret hulls of their own design

The Battleships bonus of being able to MJD with a cloak active would be super interesting. Kinda like that idea.

yeah, thats what i liked the most when i was typing it down.
im thinking, if anything like that would ever be implemented in the game, there should probably be a delay between the cloak activation to the MJD activation, so people wouldnt be able to abuse it when trying to avoid camps so easily

I don't think the ship should increase speed while cloaked. I can see some major abuse with the MWD/Cloak trick. What I could see is allowing you to use AB/MWD/MJD while cloaked though. I also agree that it should only fit a regular cloak and not a cov ops. We always need more rail ships :)

Move minmatar damage bonus into the hull bonus move the cloak speed to the minmatar bonus and remove the user of an mjd while cloaked.


Not only would an mjd when cloaked be a get out of gate camp free card is also a huge technical issue to make a module work cloaked

You mean like 4 battle ships can already do in the game

As for using modules while cloaked again that would make this ship line very hard to implement

Okay, I don't want to copy/paste or retype my r/EVE comment, but here's a shorter version:

Start from a faction's identity rather than looking at it as a combination of racial types. Thukker may have had Caldari help, but they use projectile and missile weaponry. Speed is defense from their perspective, as opposed to Angel Cartel which use it for offense.

Thukker run caravans. We already have their hauling, scouting, and escort ships in the game. I don't know any way to make a pirate faction hauler interesting, but we still have a few options left:

1. Logistic (healing) - surely Thukker have some way to maintain their ships when things go south, but we can't see that in their current ship lineup. This is the strongest possibility.

2. EWAR (disruption) - I don't know much about Thukker EWAR, it's mainly in the realm of other tribes. I think this is a relatively poor choice, as there are plenty of webbing bonused ships out there, and ECM isn't Thukker.


So, if we were to make a pirate logistic ship lineup, Thukker could give us some kind of mobile faction logi to do it with. Of course, it would need some tricks up its sleeve to be worth using over t2 logi, but I would avoid cloaking due to the existence of the Etana. Any time you make a ship that anyone can get, try not to make it as stronk as an Alliance Tournament reward.
